First, buy steel, ore and alum. It's going to take stacks in the 10ks of each. Find a high % of a resource and sample there. Usually gas has the highest %s. Get a survey/sample macro and get to work. While you are grinding survey, grind crafting. Go up the engineering tree by grinding survey tools or crafting kits in practice mode until you get engineering 3. Once you get eng 3, the rest of the crafting xp will go very fast because from then on you can grind by crafting harvs or wind gens. You can get all the crafting xp you'll need in a few hours after you get engineering 3. Surveying will go slow, leave a macro going overnight.
