Thread: A few simple harvesting questions

I'm new to the Artisan and harvesting field, but it looks like fun so I thought I'd give it a try. Hopefully trafficing in minerals is lucrative enough to fund my regular adventures. Here are a few questions I'm hoping someone can answer:

- How much does a hopper on a personal harvester hold? Are mineral and wind hoppers the same?
- Do different power sources last longer in a harvester than other ones?
- Do medium and large harvesters still only use one lot?
- If a harvester runs out of power does it degrade like it will if it runs out of maintenence money or does it just stop working?
- Is there a particular resource, other than ultra rare ones, that people need more of than others? Steel, Wind, Polymers, etc?

Thanks very much for any assistance,

This site might have more answers http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/~swgcraft

- Do different power sources last longer in a harvester than other ones?

All the same, a unit of power is a unit of power.

- If a harvester runs out of power does it degrade like it will if it runs out of maintenence money or does it just stop working?

no, it just turns off, it also turns off if the resource goes away.

- Is there a particular resource, other than ultra rare ones, that people need more of than others? Steel, Wind, Polymers, etc?

Architechs use the most resources and the use a lot of ORE and METAL, but Architechs also tend to have the most access to med/hv harvesters. DE's use Extrusive ore a bit I hear.

Artisan can be fun, depending on where yo go with it. I will answer the ones that I know.

Personal Harvester hopper is I believe 25k.

I have only used wind power so I'm not sure if one last longer than the other.

Medium and large harvesters take up more space for sure, but unknown about lot..at least by me.

If a harvester runs out of power it will not destroy itself until the maintenance fees are gone as well.

Sure rare are great, but there are professions that can use minerals and chemicals besides artisan that have no surveying means to get them...Ranger comes to mind first off.
