Thread: Harvester Rates: what do they mean?

Ok, some of my numbers are from memory, so they aren't right on, but they are close if I remember correctly.

Say I set up a harvester at a spot with 75% resource concentration. The max potential sampling rate always seems to say "2.0". THis corresponds to this 75% level resulting in a sampling rate of 1.5 Kg/H.

This would mean that at a spot with 100% level, you'd get 2.0 Kg/H. So your rate is the resource percentage, multiplied by 2.0.

But why does it say Kg/H ? Is this supposed to be kilograms per hour? That doesn't make much sense, considering I get around 2000 units per real day (very rough estimate) from this machine.

Are these game hours? Real hours? Something different from hours that starts with "H"?

I'd like to know how to calculate exactly how many resources I'll get, per real hour, based on the extraction rate listed once it starts.

Also, while I'm asking. Anyone know how game-hours relate to real hours? What's the calculation?

No one has an idea?

Saw this somewhere else, can't remember who said it...

If you change the Kg/H into Units/Min then it works out almost exactly. Close enough to be a good thumbrule, anyways.

Using this thumbrule, your harvester would pull up (60min) * (24 hr) * (1.5 Units/Hr) = 2160 Units/Day, which is probably much closer to the truth than your 'Very rough estimate'

YMMV

oops, that should be * (1.5 Units/Min) 8)

Hmm.. well, that sounds great. Why in the world do they use an H if it means minutes? And why do they use the symbol for Kilograms when there's no way anyone is carrying around a bunch of stacks weighing hundreds of kilos?

I'm not real worried about the weight thing, btw. I know we have to be able to carry around more than is realistic to make crafting work. But it would be nice if it just said something like "U/M" for Units per minute or something.

Because Kg is a metic term. All starwars is suppost to use the metic system. Half of us in the US don't know how to use the metic system. <grin>

Accually it is probably just a bug.

Oh sure, it makes perfect sense for them to be using the metric system in a galaxy far far away.Just like they used those weird symbols on the compass in beta that confused everyone so much they replaced it with just an Arrow for North.

I suppose I shouldn't assume "Kg" means kilograms, since this is Star Wars. It probably stands for "Konagorts" or some other made up unit name. And they don't call 60 seconds a minute. It's a "hosterup" or something equally odd. That's why it's Kg/H.

Actually I was wondering about wind generators. For some reason they use a different scale. They have a max potential rate of 5 Kg/H, so a 30% wind level gives 1.5 Kg/H. Weird.

ok the Base Extraction Rate (BER) is what you would get on a 100% spot

the actual is BER/ 100 x <resource%> = Extraction rate

the Kg/H is actualy hundred per hour so an extraction reate of 2.43 will give you 243 an hour (believe me i'v sat by a harvester for exactly one hour it was killing me too) so with all this you can calculate you actual cpu cost (meduims at BER10 average .5cpu, including power) power is cheaper to make becuase it doesn;t requre power just maintenance

to see the different harvesters stats take a look at the post "Architect Profitability" written by ME
