Thread: BER and different types of harvestor.

I've just made my first batch of personal harvestors. Used what I thought were reasonable resources but their BER is still 1, when i think it can go up to 3. (actually what are the ranges for BER of different harvestors)

I'm 4-2-2-4 on the artisan.. was it because of this? or because my resources weren't good enough? what actually effects the BER? will i have to experiment to get a high extraction rate?

are all extractors/harvestors used assumed to be of their maximum BER for their harvestor type? i only ask because swgcraft doesnt even offer the option to enter the BER of the harvestor, only the type. I'm a little lost by this page as the extraction rates seem to be 2, 4, and 7 when i thought the maximums were 3, 10 and 13.. or are they just average values (problem is i cant seem to change them).

http://www.swgcraft.com/harvtool.php

one other quick question, is a BER 3 harvestor three times as efficient as a BER 1?

thanks

The max BER for personals is 4. 10 for mediums and 14 for large. With the exception of fusion generators, which max at 14 unless you have a pre-nerf model, wind generators which max at 9 and solar generators which max at 8.

If you didn't experiment at all, then this is probably the biggest culprit as you will need to utilize experimentation points to achieve max BER. The available experimentation points you have also affects things, so if you are already using really good resources it might be the extra points you get from the rest of Domestic Arts will help out. Also make sure the resources you use are high in the attributes for the extraction rate. If you hit max BER then you can put any spare points into hopper size.

I think SWGCraft is a bit dated at that section. To be honest I only use it to track resources for which it is invaluable.

The higher your BER the more resources you will mine in a given time. Try to use max BER if you can since you pay the same maintenance/power costs per hour regardless of BER so you may as well work to maximum output, any other BER is costing you credits.

personal: 4, Medium: 10, Heavy: 13, Fusion: 14

The BER is affected by one thing only, you could say, and that's how good you experiment on your harvester. Now, the experimentation aviable depends on the quality of the resources, and eventually some sub components that are used, and your experimentation points. For harvester you will rely on HR, SR and UT (Heat resistance, Schock resistance, Unit toughness) With those skills you should have 8 experimentation points, which should be enough for at least a ber 3.

You are almost right on the BER, 4, 10, 13. I never used swgcrafts calculator.

Yes.

thanks

The harvestor FAQ sticky has a very good rundown on all things harvestor related, that should answer most of your questions.

P.S. Experimentation is how you get good stats on crafted stuff, try it out, its fun.
