Bad idea: for one it would hurt architects if they made ther own harvestors
Better idea: the ability to use (archetect made) higher BER extractors for a miner prof. and the ability to survey even larger areas, also perhaps a mod similar to that in the merchant prof. that would lower maintanence but only for harvestors and perhaps an ability at masterto "slice" harvestors each time they are placed to lower power consumtion and a mod to increase there lots for harvetors only say a total of an extra 5 or so at master
P.S. i believe but not certian that there was a miner prof. durring beta but was removed for one reason or another.

Yes, they were going to put in a miner profession. They dropped it because they said that there was not enough for them to do to make a profession out of it. Total lack of vision on their part. There is alot a miner prof could do.
1. Resource mapping(would store survey results on a map that kept track of multiple resource concentrations).
2. Advanced survey range (Planet wide at Master Miner).
3. Reduced maintence and power consumption on Harvesters.
4. Resource density tracking (Would tell the miner how much of a given resource is left on a planet).
There are your four skill lines right there, and the are plenty of little neatnesses that could be put in too. One off the top of my head is a device that woul automatically alert the miner to the disapearence or arrival of resources when they log in. Oh and here is another I just thought of that could go in the tree at maybe 3 or 4 of line 1...Resource data storage on the Resource map. So you could just check it if you needed to recall info on something you already sampled. Data of a material would vanish when the resource does.
I think a miner prof would have plenty to do nad would be a valuable addition to the game.

I think there should be a proffesion for surveying so you can get resources and sell them and you can learn how to make advanced installations so you don't have to be an architect. What do ya think?

Survey has always been my favorite profession tree I'veheld in SWG. I'd love to see it expanded further or even a whole profession dedicated to it!
