Is something near it? I had similar problems when there were large house decorations too close to my new vendor. Just picked up anything near it and tried again. Even if the items are near it but don't appear to be touching it, pull them up anyway. A gungan head that wasn'tthat close tomy new vendor was the cause of my problems.

This is probably already answered out on the merchant forums, but I'm too lazy to look at their boards and post a link right now. 8-)
Last time this happened to me, all I had to do was relog and my vendor was initialized. (Merchants have been complaining about this problem for awhile, and I'm not sure if this is the "fix" or if it was more of a lag issue for me this last time.)

well, I've already relogged and I'm trying to just remove all the decorations... still doing it, so I'm gonna keep on trying..

dont know if this will work for you but it seems to work for me when i set new vendors up.
after i place and initialize the vendor, i quickly try to open it(havent paid maintenance yet). like you, i seem to always get the "vendor not initialized" pop-up, but i just close it and quickly attempt to open the vendor again and that usually does the trick. the only vendor that i have not got this to work for is the large bulky vendor. that one seems to be borked(for me at least).
anyways, thats what i do and it seems to work. best of luck

This bug only seems to affect the small robot and the large vendor box... I had alot of trouble trying to use the little floating robot. I left him up for days, and never got the silly thing to 'initialize'... the only thing that worked for me was that when I placed him initially, I didn't move him at all, or rotate him. I just left him the way that he was, and miraculously, it worked when I initialized. So, try to place him down, and do not rotate him at all.

Was it done close to the servers coming back up?
I know that there is a period now of up to 30 minutes after the servers come back up when the vendors don't seem to function at all (even the bazaars).
