Thread: No Armor Side Effect Signs?
Was kinda nice to make a seg named whatever (like 'Restocking Tuesday') and drop it by the vendor where people could see it well.
I posted this request to the devs. I'll let you know if I hear anything back.
An unexpected side-effect of removing bone armor from Artisan has cropped up.
Many crafters, myself included, have used bone armor segments as "signs" in our shops and such. They were nice, flat surfaces that could be positioned in our shops and named "Restocked every Tuesday" or some such as informational signs for our customers.
There really aren't any other suitable items in the Artisan item list that fit the 'sign' role like armor segments.
Many Artisans are asking for a new schematic, a sign or placard, be added to the Artisan profession. Something simple, perhaps even using the same art assessts as a armor layer or schematic, that is a simple 'namable thing' that can be used as a sign.
Ideally, of course, there would be art that more resembled a sign, but I wouldn't want to delay any introduction of such a schematic while art is made.
To summarize, I am requesting a new schematic (craftable item) be added to the Artisan line with the following qualities:
- Call it a Sign or Shop Sign, or Placard
- Have it take, oh, 5 units of Wood (body), 2 units of Metal (frame), and 2 of chemical (lettering)
- Make it renamable after crafting like a pack is now (very important!)
- Having it with a color pallet would be fabulous, strong primaries as options
- Either use existing art for armor layers or segments, or (I don't know all the art already in the game) some other vertically oriented, rectangular flat item, maybe a datapad or something
- The item will have no stats and would have no other use in game
Please?
Take care,
Guru
excellent Guru
I myself with nov as am useing the next step up from segs atm for signs, nice metallic look to them.
but there is also a new veiwable bug
signs, lables, names anything with text
now has a 'veiw block' {kinda how we have so much room to use for a sig here on forums}
anything that is more then 2 or 3 lines depending on item, gets cut off.
so 'signs' that say
Welcome!
Ani'cul's
ATTIRE
Vendors
Inside
now just show
Welcome!
Ani'cul's
and the very top of word ATTIRE
this goes for bone segs, backpacks, shop signs..all of it.![]()
I'll take that forward as well.

Ah, I didn't know about the 'view block' thing.
I'll take that forward as well.
Guru
I've noticed this as well.
It seems the view block applies to things currently already made.
Things I've just recently made seem to have a much smaller number of characters that can be used so its not as big an issue except you can't put as much on it.....
