I would just like to briefly reflect that this post is simply the summation of everything I have read on the boards from dev posts and also all I have learned up to Master Architect.

#1 Why do minerals move?

Mineral changeover and resource movement is a way to establish a fair, equally balanced set of standards to influence movement of crafters throughout the galaxy. It also stimulates trade and produces social interaction. In short-term game play it stops a limited amount of power gaming while promoting the more important parts of SWG as a MMORPG.

#2 Why was there no change in the first week then a sudden collision of sudden drastic moves?

I am speculating here. The Dev team for SWG decided not to incorporate it RIGHT away because they had yet a few bugs to fix and probably to give people a head start at getting the player based economy going, without these people we would not have the massive amounts of products we see on the market currently, and that means anyone who got SWG in the first week. This can be EITHER a good thing or a bad thing depending on your view of player based driven economies.

#3 How do resource changeovers work?

From the point of introduction into the system any given material has the ability to fade out during the change-over time from what I have noticed 6 am PST. Now these materials only change every 5-8 days and that is the ONLY random variable to the process, in its place is a variable resource of the same type, I.E. Gas for gas, Mineral for Mineral, etc. .Also from what I have been able to identify there is a better chance that the same type of material I.E. ore for ore, will appear then say, metal instead of ore. That could just be because of the amount of changeover. And keep in mind also, the same material type does not have to appear, and not only that no material may appear at all if the planet is over its minimum amount of resources in a selected category.

#4 How do I work around this system I don’t have all the time in the world.

You don’t need to work around it you need to work with it. Say I am looking for ore, and I know a, b, and c are on Naboo. But I realize that one of them is about to fade out but I don’t know which. START writing them down guys. If you need ore, write down a disappeared and x replaced it, and do so with each category of material that YOU need to mine, its a lot simpler then it sounds, trust me, I do it.

I hope this answers a lot of questions guys and I hope I got most of it right, feel free to add on Q, Holo, Whoever.
