Thread: How to Make Killer Items in a Factory

Making items in a factory is very quirky. There are bugs that make it difficult when starting out and the interface is less than your perfect GUI. So what I'm going to do is get right into a basic outline "for dummies". The example below is specifically for guns, but it can be applied to any form of crafting with a few exceptions.

1) Get at least 5 extractors going. You'll need them. Have 3 wind generators within a reasonable distance of at least 20%. It's not worth running 3500 meters for a 50% wind concentration.

2) Select one gun (or whatever) that you want to make and gather enough resources to make 10 of this item.

IMPORTANT: Only gather ONE TYPE of each resource. PLEASE.

3) Go to your datapad and destroy all schematics that you have previously saved. You won't regret it.

4) For each component, keep making them until you get great success/great success or better. When you do make a schematic that will yield 100 items. Repeat this for each component.

5) Select one of the components in your datapad that make up this potential item. View that schematic. Write down what each of the specific resources are and multiply the necessary quantities by 100.

6) Gather the resources to make 100 of this item and this item only.

7) Go to your factory.

8) Put about 1000 power in your factory and make sure it has maintenance fees paid up.

9) Click and hold on factory and under options select access schematic slot and upload this schematic.

10) Select material input hopper and open it up a little. Go to your inventory and drag what should be 100 times each of the resources you need to make this item.

11) Click on factory and under options select "start producing items".

12) Leave the gamerunning, stay near your factoryand go watch tv for a couple of hours or so.

13) You now have a bunch of experience and 4 crates of 25 of that item.

14) Repeat steps 5-13 until each of the components have been completed.

15) NOW HERE"S THE IMPORTANT PART: Go to your output hopper, grab one crate of each component and go to the nearest crafting station.

16) Open your inventory and destry or store in your pack every item of each component you just made in your factory. This is also VERY important as we don't want to make a schematic with with a component that did not just come from your factory!!!!!!!

17) Right click on each of the crates and pull one of each component out into your inventory.

18) Make a gun with those components, experiment on it. If it is less than great success/great success, kill this item and go back to step 17. When it comes out great, STOP AND READ THIS, create a schematic but it needs to be less than a schematic of 100. If you made a great product on your first try, then you now have 24 left in each of your crates. YOU WILL BE MAKING A SCHEMATIC OF 99!!! If it took 2 tries, then it needs to be 98, etc. The factory will not produce a single item if the schematic doesn't have the necessary items. Since you used at least one of each of the components, 100 will be impossible.

19) Read step 18 again before you go back to the game and start using your factory.

20) Go to your factory, place all of the crates in the input hopper, select the schematic of the great gun you just made and start the factory up.

21) Booya, sell your items for a lot more than what everyone else does.

There might be an easier way to do this. But I know this works. The hardest part of your job now is to gather resources.

So why do I share this knowledge with those of you that have been struggling with this? Simple: I have (HELPER) over my head and will continue to be faithful to that role, I am several days ahead of you and I am happy to share the vast wealth of fine crafting AS LONG AS YOU DO YOUR JOB TO KEEP THE ECONOMY UP. You're going to regret selling 100 damage 2.7 delay pistols in the bazaar for 1200 credits when we're all at the top of the food chain and every joe in the universe refuses to pay you a decent amount for yourhard work. As of July 12th, 2003 there are more than 100,000 fighters that will be happy to pay 7000 credits for a gun like this. They might even pay 10,000.

You can improve on the quality of your guns even more if you are stubborn in a quest to put extractors over sweet spots of higher quality of resources.

One more important thing I learned last night.

DO NOT DIE WHEN YOUR FACTORY IS RUNNING.

I learned this the hard way. Fortunately I was making guns and had already produced 76 of 99. When I died, a bug caused my factory to get off sync and the quanity of one of my compnents was lost. Hence an imperfect quantity of items was in the input hopper.

I didn't have my killer droid protecting me. That will never happen again.
