Thread: Getting to novice architect Can you do it without grinding?
Is there anyone out there who got from Artisan (Engineering IV) to novice architect without grinding hundreds of muzzles or whatever to generate the 33KXP? Seems to me that that's about the only path available.
Aye, it is possible. Am getting closer by the day. I make and sell power-ups, CDEFs, ect., only destroying the occasional flub. The trick is making good items that people want and selling them at a good price. You can make more than enough money to pay for harvesters and travel tickets.
Good luck
I've beentrying that, but it is very slow going. There are items that people will buy--survey devices, crafting tools, etc. The thing people will readily buy are harvester deeds, but you don't get general crafting XP for that.
I guess this gets back to the question that's been posted here dozens of times: what's selling well in quantity? I can sell a handful of items per day--tools, powerups, experimented weapons, etc.--but it's going to take forever to get 33K XP at that rate.
If you want to gain crafting xp at anything more than a snails pace, you must grind.
I have pretty good architect experience by making my own harvesters.
So...without knowing for sure what our goals are, in 3 weeks of enjoying myself, I think I will have Novice arhitect in about another week...
You can also try traveling to different cities to sell your wares.
Aalstrom
My primary income is from missions where I get the bone & hide for the armour, and from selling mineral and chemical extractors - on another planet, as they don't sell locally. The only other thing I;ve managed to sell was a +25% max damage weapon powerup - the rest are just taking up space on the bazaar and costing me 20 creds each time I put them up for sale.
So, yeah, grind time. Although I did spend 21,000 GCXP on Novice Weaponsmith - which I had to pay an NPC trainer for as I couldn't find anyone who wanted to train me.
Speaking of which, I'm seeing a worrying trend on Eclipse of late - Artisans hassling people to take training in areas they do not want just so the Artisan can get enough Apprentice XP to get Master Artisan or whatever.
And what's up with asking for payment for training? Please...
If you go the Master Artisan route, it is easy to get lots of general crafting xp by making and selling electronic components. So far, I've made enough for droid engineer and I still have enough left over to pick up architect or any other elite artisan profession.
