Thread: Possibility of a Disassemble skill?

Having played Earth & Beyond (dropped it as soon as SWG came out) I believe that there should be a skill that allows a Artisan to disassemble/deconstruct items for eithercomponents or resources.

I have gone on to the Bazaar and seen hundreds of CDEF weapons listed and having picked up some CDEF weapons from kills why would I want to try to auction them? I would much rather be able to breakthe itemdown to the component or resource level so that I may try to craft different items that might be in demand. Instead I end up dropping or destroying the item because it is of no use to me.

Anyone else think this is a good idea?

yes an extreemly good idea.

I throw out hundreds... literally HUNDREDS of scopes a night, nothing better to do with them make 50, delete them all... make 50 delete them all, make 50 delete them all.

I will make Master artisan tonight, but im also high in marksman, scout and medic. hehe Sometimes I wish I would have just focused 100% into artisan and I would have been an architect by now. 33,000 for architect, that seems like SO **edit** many Scopes... is there something you people move on to once your an architect that yeilds better XP that scopes?

it makes sense therefore it will likely never be implemented. I loved E&B and like you dropped it for SWG but I don't think that SOE will give us a skill like this. Other than tearing it apart, what would it do? Give us a small amount of the resources used to make the item? Give a bonus on remaking that item if we use the exact resources acquired from it in the first place? It is an interesting notion that most likely will never be seen in the game.

But think about this.......to make it fair and not something we could exploit for the xp the resources things give when you break them down would have to be REALLY small. The reason they won't ever do it is this: When we grind away to get to the profession we want we just make the most pointless easiest thing we can build. If we break down the items we grind away at and get the resources back then we could just build the same items over and over again.

From the looks of the last patch they obviously want the numbers of artisans cut down and they want it to be a little tougher profession (probably because the market is getting flooded with useless items, like you said). If they gave us the ability to break items down it would defeat their purpose all together.

What you all are describing is called reverse engenering.(sorry about spelling) This would be a great idea it would help keep unwanted clutter off the bizzar boards. It would also keep me from wasting resorces even if we did not get the full amount back it is better then distroying the item and getting nothing. Oh Great Dev gods hear my plea and take pitty on me :-)

What they could do is make the experience less and less for each time you reverse engineer a item but still allow you to reclaim the resources.

Also the higher skill level you are you could reclaim a higher percentage of resources.
