I read that there ARE survey missions? Which NPC'sGive these? Certain type? Specific Place?

If it's a specific place, any in Kor Valla on Corellia?

I've gotten survey missions just from various NPC's standing out at POI spawns in the middle of a field (not miner types, either). There's always a chance that they'll ask you to locate a resource that doesn't exist on the planet you're currently on, at which case you'll end up spending more money than you'll get as a reward just trying to track the resource down. For this reason I've been hesitant to take anymore of these types of missions.

I got one from some random NPC I ran into in the wilderness. Needed me to /survey some radioactive ore. Two /surveys and a small bit of running - a quick 1000 credits.

I should have noted that I haven't been able to actually finish a survey quest from a static NPC in the guild hall. If you survey too close to a town, you get a message that says "too close" (I assume it's because you're too close to a town). When I found the required resource outside the town, I didn't get this message, but it didn't credit me with finishing the quest either. The resource was correct, and the efficiency was correct. I surveyed and sampled. I even tried going back to the NPC, but he didn't aknowledge the quest being done either.

Either the static NPC I used is bugged or I did something wrong. Anyone else have a successful survey mission from a guild hall NPC?

No, but I've done a successful one from an NPC from a POI on Naboo. Crafting ones as well, they're sorta nifty. They give you the parts you need (Speed Regulator, Thermal Regulator) and a schematic to build it together. You build it, take it to the waypoint, and then complete the mission.

Look in guild halls for an NPC with the title "Miner". I know there's one in the Mos Entha guild hall near the Cantina on the West side of town, and I'm pretty sure there are others around.
