Thread: Question about left over resources

One of my characters is an artisan/scout and I've really been ignoring the artisan aspect of the game.

Last night, while playing, I noticed that there are about 7,000 odd resources in the game. For instance, I was on Rori and found two different types of fiberplast. Why? When I tried to craft an item that needed, say, 25 units of fiberplast and I had 10 of one and 15 of the other I couldn't combine them. That seems a little crazy to me. So, basically I'm stuck with tons of different types of resources in amounts so small that I can't use them.

What do you guys do with this type of situation? Do you delete the spare resources?

Thanks!

Well, each of those different fiberplasts have different stats on them, so they require all of one type to keep people from mix and matching and creating super weapons I'd suppose. However, yes we do just delete them (or go mine more of the exact same type).

Thanks for your answer.

Seems like with all the database problems that the devs are dealing with, they'd just limit the amount of resources, huh?

::shrug::

Thanks again!

^ ^ ^ I don't see how different resources could be causing database problems, but to answer your question, I delete the items whenever they get below the mark where I can't use them. For instance, with power-ups, I need 6 metals and 4 chemicals. If I have a 5 metal resource, deleted. A 3 chemical resource, deleted...

A few units here and there will not hurt you. Keeping them in your inventory preventing you from putting something useful in it might.

The quality of each item you craft depends on the stats of the resources you put into it. As a result, there are different uses for each resources in each class of metal, for instance. One might have a high overall quality as compared to conductivity and therefore be better suited to certain types of items. Some things have low stats across the board and aren't good for much of anything.

I find this to be the interesting part of the game, trying to match the best resources to make the best possible product (for me weapons). If you have no use for your resources, you can put them for sale on the bazaar. Without knowing all the individual stats, its hard to say what they are worth. Put em up for sale at about 2-3 cred/unit and see what happens.

Now, that being said, a post will follow that will say I am crazy and you should put them up for 5 cred/unit. Hey go for it. I think its outrageous, but I've seen some useless resources sell for some pretty outlandish prices.

My suggestion to you would be to hang on the that sample. Putit in the bank or in a container for future reference. It's useful to see in game what the stats are for the resources.You may have a future project that calls for that resource, and having the stats available will help you know what to start surveying for. I suppose you could just write them down, but I prefer to stick them inmy backpack.If a resource goes away, and you're left with a small sample, then delete it. Or maybe it could be a collector's item. You could end up the only person in the galaxy with a sample.

I drop all my left over resources in my house. Makes it look like a store room hehehe. I do tend to hang on to everthing.
