While this post is not made for Artisans, I think it would be a good idea to post them here, as they would effect Artisens like myself quite a bit.

Loot: Combat classes want to be able to loot, cool, new items that are UBER. the Crafters make the best items, and they want it to stay that way.

Compromise: Some high level monsters will drop Rare Items with an accompanying single-use schematic/blueprint. In order to make the item in the schematic, you need the item that drops with it. Once you have obtained these items, you will need to hire a crafter to manufacture the item for you. Such items will be very powerful. Open to the same grief as container slicing. Read ahead for solution

Example: While exploring Dathomir, you find an Imperial research station hidden in a remote location. After the guards attack you and are defeated, you go inside. There is an imperial Scientist inside ( A rare spawn), who attacks you. Off his corpse, you find an experimental power core for a blaster, and the schematic for the gun he was trying to develop.

Secure Services window: badly needed. The window works by arranging what will happen when trade is completed. Players will be able to manipulate and use any items in the window as if in their own inventory, but changes will not take effect until after Trade is confirmed.
Any items in the window not used will transferred as per normal trading.

Example: container slicing: You offer a guy 200 creds and new boots in return for slicing a container. Place all three in the trade window. The smuggler is able to pick it up, and choose an option to slice, and give all items inside to the player. When trade is confirmed, the smuggler will attempt to Open the container, if succesful, any items inside will be taken out and placed in the owner's inventory, and the credits and boots are transferred as normal

manufacturing : Player A offers the resources needed to make a brand new beam rifle in the window. Player B starts his crafting station, and uses them as if normally. Player A receives a message : "B has offered to craft a [beam rifle] using [resources taken]." Upon hitting the accept button, the credits are transferred, the station goes through the process, and the item is transferred.

Note that this is a delayed action. the players can specify what actions they want to do, but they are not taken until trade is accepted. 09-01-2003 08:34 AM
