Thread: Devs >> Master Artisan components crit failure rate? Bugged resources?
Well, having just reached master artisan, I'm curious why I get so many crit failures on these components. The final combine on the micro sensor suite I've had a 70% critical failure rate in 10 attempts. All the relevant resource stats were between 850 and 995. The subcomponents have critical failures quite a bit too, mostly on the experimentation side.
At least these components don't take up a lot of resources, but still isn't this kind of crazy? The crit failures in the experimentation stage are displaying 0% failure rate in the right window and yet fail over half the time.
I'd like to ask the developers to actually go through making20 micro sensor suites and tell us if this rate of failure is intended. ![]()
On a related note, I am a medical crafter also. I noticed when using certain high quality resources (specifically class 3 solid fuel as the inorganic ingredient) the final combine on stimpack C's (3 subcomponents) crit failed on the experimentation stage 100% of the time. That was 12 stimpack C's. I then went and used steel as the inorganic (no potential energy stat so much lower quality) and got amazing successes and great successes continuously for the next several combines.
This certainly isn't enjoyable. It's quite frustrating. I can better accept failures when the game feedback tells me I have a high percentage failure rate. If it says 0% I don't expect any failures, certainly less than one in a hundred. ![]()
Anyone have similar experiences?
Quality of resources affects the inital combine and the limit to which you can experiment (for instance, if you have 900 overall quality on control unit, you will not be able to experiment the effectiveness above 90%). My experience has been that whether I'm at my good station, a crappy station, no station, etc...my initial combine is always the same unless it is a crit fail.
quality of tools and stations does not seem to affect the rate of critical failure. I do not know what crit fail rate is related too, but I do not *believe* it has to do with quality of your tools. Does not SEEM to be related to your resources either.
What quality of tools and station DO seem to affect: when i'm near my good station, unless it is a crit fail, i almost always get either a great or amazing success. No more good success, moderate success, moderate failure, etc.
Also, on the crafting station part of it, I was trying to make a crafting station.
Perhaps I'm just supposed to have horrendous failure rates when making my first private crafting station, so be it. The one I persevered on ended up being 38.9 quality so maybe this will improve in the future.
However, my point still stands from the post, if the failure rate says zero, why am I crit failing at a 50% rate?
Personally I think this is a bug. The final calculation is not being properly dispayed in the crafting window.
I wish i knew the formula they used to determine Crit Fail rate (With absolutely NO points in construction, i made a fusion generator, two high efficiency water vaporators, one deep crust chemical and 4 heavy miners tonight with not a single critical fail--then i make a dagger just to see how lucky i am..and i fail several experiment points)--I would really love to see the formula..unless it is ENTIRELY random..if it's just random..well that's just dumb. Bet there's a negative number in there...or if certain factors like tool effectiveness, station effectiveness, quality of resources, skill mods all add up to over a certain number...it ends up rolling back somehow. Who knows?
You've just described 60% of this game.
