I will go on vacation for a week so I wonder how long a personal harvester will last until it is destroyed. There will probably be resource shift before the week is over so I only want to put in maintenance for a few days. I destroy my persoanl harvester so I don't care if they damged but I don't want to loose the resources in the hopper (and don't want to puit in to much credits as well).

as soon as it's HP reaches 99% it will turn off and stop harvesting.

From there its cheaper to scrap it and buy another one because the repair maintenace is absolutely ungodly.

If I understand correctly, you're not wanting to keep your harvester paid up because it's going to shut off automatically when the resource it's mining shifts out.

The problem is that the repair costs of the harvester are FAR more expensive than the maintenance costs... and if you want to redeed that harvester, it has to be at 100% condition AND have credits in on top of that.

Unless you're planning on just destroying the harvester yourself when you get back (in which case, it really doesn't MATTER how long the thing lasts after the maintenance runs out) you really are better off just keeping the maintenance paid.

Both of you didn't answer the question so I will do my best.

After the money dries up u should have about 3-4 days.

Yes, I know that. But when will it self-destruct (or does it)?

Yeah, you will have a few days at least. They will start smoking for a day or two then begin exploding and burning. =)

They seem to stay on fire for about 2 days.

I think it's always cheaper to buy a new harvester deed rather than moving a harvester.
It costs 1500 to re-deed an existing harvester, whereas a new deed costs about 600 on the bazaar (from my experience, maybe more on other servers/planets). So, as long as you don't put too much power and funding into your harvesters, you have the option of abandoning them for good and getting new ones for cheaper.

I always put 720 credits and 600 power in my harvesters so that they last for exactly 24 hours. After that, I decide if I should run them for another 12 or 24 hours or just abandon them.

Better yet, get a friend who can make the deeds for you for free!

Sorry, but I also am not asnwering your original question but rather adding a new twist.

I had a harvester that ran out of maintenance and the hopper went empty. So not only did I have to pay to get my harvester back up and running, but I lost all my material.

So if you plan on just letting it rot because you wont be getting material after a shift... if it loses the material anyway it is a moot point as you wont even get the material that was there when the shift occurred.

Anybody please tell me I am wrong, as I just have the one occasion to base this on.

I really wish they could change these to automatically pick the highest resource available if the old one depletes (shifts).

Robofish, thank you for answer my actual questions :-).

I guess I will put money for 4 days harvesting that would be enough until resource shift and then let them burn for 3-4 days.

I never redeed my personal harvesters. Since I am an artisan I just make a new one. Always destroy them when I don't need it any longer (or id I still want it pur repair is more than 500 cr or something).
