Greetings! I think I heard somewhere the highest effectiveness a tool can have is +15%, but I wanted to ask the artisans if this is correct. I'm currently using +12.9% tools, and if there are better tools out there I'll go look for them (but if 12.9 is pretty good, then I'll stick with those).

I just got a batch of 991 conductivity copper (mmm polysteel copper) in and whipped out some 14.73 effectiveness tools to do my crafting. My old ones were 6.xx

To tell the truth, if it affected it at all, it was not a HUGE change. I still get critical fails. Almost as often as I did with the lower tools.

So if I were you I wouldn't sweat it.

I also think you are right with the 15% thing. In the experiment phase I got it to 99% effectiveness which resulted in 14.73. So 15% would be pretty close to what I could expect at 100%.

ps. if you are on tarquinas I can make some of the 14.73's for you to try if you are still interested.

I haven't really seen a huge difference in tool effectiveness but I've been told it helps in the long run with critical failures and experimentation. I was builing some structure modules and got 3 crit fails in a row and said "this is crap, i'm gonna build a new crafting tool". So I went out and got some 866 conductivity 960 oq copper and made a 10.03 crafting tool. What happend the first time I used it you might ask? Critical failure... doh! But I haven't had another since then, so maybe it is better.

Thanks for the info. I'd buy a few tools from you, but I'm on Tempest =).
