I've heard you can send them out to survey for resources planet wide rather than useing a device. I'm not sure and I can't seem to find one on my server to buy. Thank you for your time and input. /hi5

you send them out. they use 1droid and 1survey tool, you can choose what to survey.

after 30min ish. they report back on what resources that are avalible. no stats no way to know how long its been up. but i alsways use swgcraft.com and thoose survey droids sometimes also to counter check.

I have used them many times.

They don't give waypoints to the resources - just the resource name and type available on that planet. You specify what type of resource you want the survey droid to look for by choosing what type of survey tool to give it. For instance, if you give it a mineral survey tool, it will return a list of every mineral on that planet. No stats or waypoints - just a list.

When I used these, I found they were most useful for keeping swgcraft.com up to date. I could send out survey droids, then enter all of the resource names into swgcraft.com. If one of the resources was new (if swgcraft.com didn't already have the stats for that resource name), then I'd actually go sample some to get the stats and enter it into swgcraft.com. The survey droid was useful because it gave a complete list. Swgcraft.com was useful to help know what resources were new or hadn't been entered. The combo was useful in providing up-to-date resources on every planet including the resource stats.

Neither was useful in finding a waypoint to place harvesters.

I survey, a LOT.

The best trick I just mastered is going to a planet starport, pulling the tools and entering all the names into my website I see on the tools. Then I survey for anything right under me, and what is not under me can be filled in for stats in 10 minutes a planet using a 30k resource deed.

Also, get a list of the harvestable animal resources on a planet and you can sit anywhere in the game (home, cantina, etc) and compare the current against the LAST named resource in a list. The LAST one listed is the current one. I've been able to update animal resources for the whole galaxy on a daily basis for Tempest doing this.

And remember, it's up to the artisans who play the game to keep swgcraft.com up to date on resources.

I've found survey droids very useful along the lines previously posted. A cool trick I read about is to use the veteran reward 30K resource crate. If you find a resource not listed on swgcraft bring up the 30K crate deed for the class/type of resource you are investigating. The deed will show you a list of historical spawns but the most recent will be at the bottom of the list. That entry will show you the attributes of the new resource. Be sure to hit cancel when you are finished or you will get a crate of the stuff. You will still have to find the waypoints yourself but at least you can tell if the new resource is worth looking for.
