Thread: How do you use experimental schematic?

Ok I finally worked out how to experiment last night, and after a particularly good experiment I decided to make a schematic of it.

The schematic has appeared in my 'Data' window (and not my 'Schematic' window as I was expecting) and doesnt show up in my crafting tool list.

What am I missing or can you only use experimental schematics in a factory or something?

Thanks

when you can find a factory that makes you r type of item (ie. food/chem, structure/furn, Item/weapon, clothing/ armor) you can use the schematic with the right ingredients and it will make exact copies of the item. Never got to use factories in beta but I will be able to build them soon.

Thanks, so you _must_ have a factory to use an experimental schematic then?

How did you make the experimental schematic, I would like to learn this as I'm sure a lot of others will.

To make an experimental schematic you need to be have at lease Engineering level 1 and be using the specific crafting tool for the object you are making (not the general crafting tool), you also need to be next to the specific crafting station for that item type and have it targetted.

Construct your item in the normal way, but after the screen where you see what kind of success/failure you get you will be presented with 3 options

Make prototype item (at this point this option will just create the item as normal I think)

Make schematic (at this point dont bother since you havent changed the item in any way)

Experiment

So pick experiment and youll get a certain number of points that you can use the change certain stats. I wont go into detail here about experimentation because there are a couple of really good guides that explain it and I dont really understand it all myself yet.

Once you have finished experimenting you will be taken back to the 3 options listed above (if you used all the experiment points that wont be available anymore). You can then make a schematic of that experimental item

I have no idea at this point how to use that schematic (unless it has to be in a factory) hence the reason for my post.

good luck

You can only use the draft schematics in the crafting tools....

When you make the experimental schematic, that is meant to be input into a factory to mass produce that item.

I actually came into the forums with a similar question.

Now that I have the schematic how do I use it?

I've heard about these factories but where do they come from, Do I have to buy, make find one?

Can I use someone else's factory?

Whats the point of being able to easily make schematics if factories are not easy to find?

I believe you need to get a factory from an Architect
