Thread: Podracing...where is it?
It's a testiment to the undying optimism of the human spirit that anyone suggests improvements or new "features" at this point. Really I admire that.
The CU breaks most professions. RotW introduces a wealth of new content in the form of mostly bugged quests. The patch that was supposed to fix a few things also included the new "feature" of multi-passenger vehicles (which have to be speed impaired to have a hope of not crashing everything; read: forget Pod Races). ...but wait! It did crash everything.
I'm not asking for anything new, ever again. I just want them to fix what they've broken. They've slaughtered this thing so badly that now fixing pre-CU bugs is a faded hope. I just want the new bugs fixed. Then send all the developers home. Lock this puppy down and leave it alone. No new features means no new bugs and no new downtime. A better deal all the way 'round.
I hope one day we can have podracing and in atmosphere flight, until then we can dream.. or play other games that offer those features.
Now THAT is what I've been getting at! With JTL being basically a flight simulator added on, theres no reason they couldn't revamp Ep1 Racer and Racer Revenge to be a mini-game like you described. And hey, then it wouldn't matter if there were houses on the track cause it would be in an alternate dimension! ![]()
As for who would craft the items, why not a whole new profession? They added a shipwright for the ships, why not a pod engineer or something?
Other ideas I just had include things like "phantom parts", rare instances that would allow you to purchase a superpart from a junk dealer if you were in the right place at the right time. And more on your camera idea, we could add a cantina type setting with displays that show the race (like TVs in a bar).
I would totally make it my new profession. ![]()
The game already exists... it was called Pod Racer and was released around the time that Episode 1 was released. You can probably get it for $5 on E-bay...
I think you missed the point. As I stated before, I dont want to play a game by myself, pointlessly trying to beat my own times. I want to play it with the character I've grown to love, in the world in which he and his friends reside. And hey. You're right. It exsists. So it should be quite a bit easier to implement it, since the physics are already developed.
Dont be a sourpuss. Us optimists are at work. ![]()
I think if they bring in combat vehicles being built on the same principle of ships. I think that would bring pod racing one step closer.
I would love to see that brought into the game. You build your pod, maintain it, and race it till you crash. That would be fun.
