I think MA should be a pre-rec to making starships, as that will eb the most elite, elite crafting class.

As for one preson making the ships?? i dont think soo.

weapons smiths make the weapons,

armorers, ship armor+deflectors

De's we need astromechs to fix um in battel right??

Arcitects- they build turbines and power cores.. soo a next logical step would be starship engines

Tailors, ehh not sure if they would really need to be included in this, The already got enough to do with the hundreds of colors they can make clothing and Pluss when was the last time you found a great bio clothing vendor?? with 100's or 1000's of bio cloths.. Ill give the tailors no love on this one : )

As for adding artisan parts to be used by starship engineers, lets give um nice stuff on the engineering tree.. that way those artisan dabblers can acually make some nice stuff that they can acually sell.. honestly unless your a miner the facts of making money just selling artisan stuff.. you might as well just run Wookie brawler missions all day and make more money..

Ive been a master artisan for a long long time..over a year now, there really is no money in it.. Bone armor, its a joke who is gonna buy it?? food, besides jawa beer there reallyisnt anyting that you cant get better as a chef. CDEFs? i sell maybe 3 a month.. Sure a survey tool or crafiting tool here and there, but most crafters just make um themselves.

I can make more money selling resorces some great aluminum or steel or iron than i can by wasting it to make some lamevehicles, these are about as much fun to make as it is trying to hand sample the resorces to make personal harvesters..

Give the engineers some love and make that ttile mean something than little more than a power up broker..

I DISAGREE with most of you MASTER ARTISAN should not be a prerequisite for NOVICE SHIPWRIGHT.

SOE already stated it would be a stater professions and I agree BUT----

STARSHIP ENGINEER which is an elite profession has to have MASTER SHIPWRIGHT and why not add MASTER ARTISAN as the prerequisites for NOVICE STARSHIP ENGINEER.

So you would have to be MASTER ARTISAN & MASTER SHIPWRIGHT to be a STARSHIP ENGINEER.

Putting Starship Engineer at a premium requirement would almost guarantee interdependency upon the communities, IMO.

I dont thinkMaster artisan will be a Pre-req for shipwright, but i think that if you have it then it should get a better chance of making better items, and be able to make items that are MORE special or advanced in shipwright.

I definitely think shipwright should branch off of artisan. It shouldn't be possible for new people to come into the game and start off on the same level as other people that have been playing for months. Along the same lines, I strongly disagree with the concept that every new player be given a ship when they start the game (as is listed in the startup guide posted on the JTL website). All of us had to do missions on the ground to get something as simple as a speederbike, and now they're going to give away ships to every new player?? Unfortunately, there is no way the devs will change either of these facts, because they are, of course, most interested in selling games, and the expansion is targeting people that are interested in space combat, and not necessarily RPGs. So the space section must be totally self-sufficient.

It seems manyhave taken a spacewalk without a proper space suit. I understand why many of you think that Shipwright should be intertwined with other branches of crafters. But to make a basic ship dependant on every other crafter is pure madness. Customizations? yes. Pure Ship crafting, manufacturing? no.

Master Artisan? I can see the arguments going either way. However, to my dismay as a noob , I selected a Wookie char. I like my wookie, but you know something I cant wear an Architect's Apron, I cant wear the weaponsmiths bandolier..... I am still earning alot of things in the game. One thing I have learned specifically is, it isnt fair. But neither is life. As a Master Artisan I make most of my money , as others have entioned soloing on Dantooine to fund my small but promising resource business, that also has lead to the development of many crafters in my guild/Pa City. I have come to the decision that if I want to accel as a crafter, I must start all over with another race of charachter.

Shipwright as a whole new profession with an Elite Tree? Absolutely. I like what PHX1138 in regards to Archs building garages, or crafting stations. He seemed to have a pretty well thought out idea. I think it would also be interesting to see plug-in sockets available to the shipbuilders.... things that might be obtained by other crafters but not absolutely imperitive to the construction of the vehicle. Yes the weapon smiths could perhaps make improved weapons, the AS's could manufacture grand scale PSG's , the tailors could come up with customization kits for interior use. But of course the engines should be all the ship builders doing. DE's and Artisans could provide things necesary to the construction ( conditioners, compartments , microsuites, etc etc. ). BUt to make every crafter a necesary contributor would be pure insanity. we would all be cruising around in the equivilence of a VW Beetle in space, all the rest would be as scarce and expensive as an AV21 due to cost and complexity and the demands of other crafters , and the wait time and complexity of thier orders. ( Can you say jedi quest to build a top of the line space craft? )

Just a few thoughts on it. While you might want to make the shipwrights tough to become , so they arent everywhere. I think an elite branch , such as a weaponsmith , armorsmith ordroid engshould be satisfactory. They ( WS,DE,AS ) are easy enough to find now, with some searching for quality . But not every other player is going to be one or want to be one. And I would really hate to think that the Wookies are going to get left behind again on Mod type clothing or accessories. I really would hate to change my Wackie Wookie Trading Co. into Shiphouse Rodian.. just because I cant keep up with the jones.

Just a dislaimer: I can , and have been know to be wrong.
