Hmm post this in your server's forum. They'll know more about it than anyone that frequent this forum.

Bowcaster = eye candy

I have one, never use it... looks cool carrying it in town, for combat i'd reccomend a t-21 or a laser rifle.

Thats my 2 cents *plink* *plink*

Considering it is such an exclusive weapon, isn't it a bit poor?

I would like to see it's speed reduced, that would compensate for the comparatively low damage. It is afterall quite a flimsy looking thing...

It shouldn't look flimsy, theres a reason only wookies can/do use it.

its a small little neat perk to carry around a bowcaster, not a lot beyond that.

Why should it be this way though? Should unique items not have something unique about them other than appearence? I believe that there are a lot of weapons that won't get used because they just aren't special enough...each weapon should have something that makes it stand out from the rest...at the moment most weapons are fairly indistinguishable.

Well its not like there going to make it more powerful, I mean look at factiional weapons and armor, not that great but its just the look of it thats the benefit.

In my mind, as it is an exclusive weapon, and we wookies get screwed out of wearing armor anyways... it should fall in just under T21 in quality. My Laser Rifle is MUCH better than the bowcaster I have.

No, I don't agree here...sort of anyway. The T21 is all about hard hitting damage...not all weapons should have damage as their primary statistic. Look at the Scout Blaster, peopel use it cos it is so **edit** fast, not due to its damage. I'd like to see the Bowcaster as a solid rifle, up to around 250 damage, but with it's asset being speed, say around 4 to 5... It would just offer up an extra option.

I have had several bowcasters, I spent a long time making scout traps to get general crafting xp in order to reach novice weaponsmith so I could make my own with *1* experiment point. I have since dropped weaponsmith (and all of artisan in fact), but I have found some quite good player made bowcasters. Overall, I tend to like my laser rifle more, but it was made by a master smith with very high quality resources whereas the bowcasters were made by a smith with less experiment points and some very low quality metal ( the only Doonium and Quadranium available ).

Basically, I think that when a master wookiee smith makes a bowcaster with high quality metal, they will end up being sorta comparable to E11s. Pretty decent damage, with a much lower variance than a laser rifle at the cost of max damage, and a pretty fast speed. I think that the best ones will be pretty nice overall. Having them too much better would be a little odd as we wookiees get the certification for them as new characters, no rifle levels required. Perhaps to get around this, they could put a "Bowcaster effectiveness +50%" ability at novice rifleman for wookiees or something.

I had the option to make one once while standing near one of the big Weapon Crafting Stations ( I was at at Eng. 4 then), but I did not have all the materials it needed. But now that I am a Novice Weaponsmith I cant for the life of me get it to show up again.

Let me know what you find out.....

I just hit a bunch of buttons and hope everything works out.

You will more than likely need to be using the Weapon, Droid and General Crafting tool, and be stood next to a Wepon Droid and General Crafting Station (possibly a Private one rather than a public one)

If you examine the schematic for the Bowcaster in your Datapad it should tell you this.....

You need a Weapon, Droid and General Item Crafting Tool, and a WD&GI Crafting Station, plus you can't make the required components until you get to Intermediate Firearms Crafting (Weaponsmith Skill Tree).
