My ideas are to make the Color Kits permanent to vehicles and that Master Artisans can craft the Vehicle with any color scheme as well.
I would prefer the following:
- allow the Master Artisans to craft a vehicle and apply the colors they want: these will become the default colors of this vehicle
- give the Master Artisans an ability (or a tool only usable by them) to change the default color of a vehicle
- the Color kits should not be permanent, as these are usable by any player
So, if players are upset of the colors (from Color kits) always fadding away, they will meet there fellow MA and ask for another default color.
In this case, Color kits would be useful to try out some other colors before going to an MA and ask him to change the default colors.
What do you think about this?

Permanent color changes would be more realistic. The wardrobe color combinations in this game are limitless and they really simualte "real world" conditions. Make the kits cost more and perhaps give more exp to those that make them. The tempory chage is sort of like a cheap magic trick. Cool the first time, but not on the second go around.

Sorry, I did not browse through the whole thread, but would like to state my opinion anyway.
An ideal solution for me would be to define the colors during the crafting process. It would not be changeable afterwards and would be permanent. In conjuction with that, the deed for the vehicle should resemble the vehicle itself (maybe in miniature form) with the final colors being displayed. It worked well for droids, why shouldn't it work for speeders and bikes?
Vehicle customization tools could be dumped... but that's just my view

Hum, it didn't worked well for droids.
Initial droid color have a lifespan of 20.
