The reason they did this is because, I believe, they think people are advancing to fast. They are trying slow the rate of advancement. Some, like me, made Engineer in the first couple of days.

I have been Artisan since day 1 and was lucky enough to level up a little before this patch.

It is going to make it tough for new artisans to move up at any sort of speed.

I am going to have to use a new approach now, Run missions , delivery I guess because I have no combat skills whatsoever. Than try and keep up some harvestors, (which are usually in the middle of no where!)

I dont mind some of the patch, but forcing the harvestors to be at 100%!! If that is the case than every piece of equipment and all the weapons in the game should be the same way.

Mayday

oh come on guys quit your belly aching. you know that it was way too easy to advance in surveying and get ore, i think the time/action increase is actually a good thing

i do however agree on the harvester thing.. only funtion at 100%??! **edit** is that, i really hope SOE decides to change that, my 2ndary characters shootin for droid engenier and my mains a paladin t ype character (need minerals and chemicals for my medical packs) this makes harvesters far too much of a chore to use well.

I also like the patch, now my Human can run a 6h 35m prospecting script and make max use of prospecting, 20 reps of 990 sec prospecting. Personally I think this makes much closer to what a small harvester can in a fixed amount of time, given the same concentration. I like being out in the weeds, I can prospect and catch up on my reading at the same time.

The solution to the macro sampling vs. harvester debate may be rather simple, and possibly already implemented. First, let people macro sample. Hell, maybe even put it back to the way it was pre-patch. Leave harvester production as it is. Then let hand sampling produce lower quality output then a harvesters. Make the bigger harvesters produce even better output and at a faster rate then the smaller harvesters (perhaps even allow for experiments on efficieny to yield a more refined product).

Newbies can still get the ore they need to grind out crap for xp. Artisan's are rewarded for automating and maintaining their supply chains.
