Depends on the person really. Several of them are offering materials to go with the knowledge. Others are there as someone to answer the questions from new crafters. The person who contacted me just wanted some basic questions about crafting questions answered.
So varies from person to person. Some are looking for true assistants. Someone to help with the daily grind and learn what life is like for a full time master crafter.

Sounds interesting . . . I'm already 4|3|2|4 I just don't have the money or resources to grind any further right now, it's a new char . . . Once I master, and experiment a bit, figure out the profession more, I wouldn't mind doing something like this.

I just wanted to say thank you for the results that are coming out of this thread. Im getting tells in game from people who have seen this in the Artisan forum. As well as just helping out one straight out who in the end joined my guild, which wasnt the goal.
For those who want to help get a crafter starter with materials beyond the information, this is an option and not required. Heres what I came up for my new apprentice on Bloodfin
Artisan Engineer Starter Backpack
------------------------
1 Small Naboo Square
2 Wind Harvesters
1 Personal Chem
4 Peronal Mineral Harvesters
1 Personal Gas Harvester
15k Power
20k credits
The power and credits are to get the harvesters started. The house is more then optional in this case I found i had one lying around in an old forgotten storage house.
The layout of harvesters is more a case of where in artisan they are going. But that would be modified for the different types of artisan. Changing out some of the minerals for floras if its a chef. Going heavier into chems for tailors. The reasoning for personals is they arent that material intense for an established artisan. And the Wind would be BER9 with the others being BER4. Which is more then enough to get a person started.
Remember this thread exists as mostly a medium for getting information to the new player. Some of the replies offered material assistance. I'm just offering an option for that line. With this setup an artisan can become self-sufficent within the first couple days.
I miss being a DE on my artisan so im about to test this setup on some other server. I think im going to hit one of the lower population ones. Im planning on finacing my climb with piloting to afford this for myself. But Im curious how long it will take me to be able to sell resources and prices so my artisan is self-sufficent

You didnt by chance take the harvester part from my getting started to mining thread ?? /
that is a very generous starter pack.. but for those that dont have the cash or maybe they are juust starting out but want to try to help anyway i would think this might be a nice one too, which will be helpfull but not kill the bank
Starter pack 1 everyone that wants to aprentice should beable to swing this one.
Backpack
1 weapon/droid tool
1 food/chem tool
1 clothing/armor tool
1 mineral survey
1 chemical survey
1 gas survey
1 floral survey
1 wind survey
1k metal
500 chem
1st optional, Surveyor pack, food and drink to really speed up surveyor, and help um sample, i
1 bottle brandy
1 bottle accaargm
5 chandan
btw i eat/drink that every time i survey to me not having it is like not having a survey tool
2nd Optional, resource pack
8k metal
3k chemical
2k fiberplast
2k floral perhaps 500 wheat, 500 veggie, 500 ceral, 500 fruit
1k gas
500 bone
500 hide
most long time artisans would have atleast this stuff in total crap lying around that your just beggin to get rid of and free up some inventory space .
3rd optional, harester pack.
1 wind mill
1 floral
1 chemical
4mineral
1 gas
1 small house (optional as many artisans are not architects)
this would get um rolling in harvesting, and maybe you could make a deal with an architect for some cheap small houses, maybe they would even donate to you if they knew what it was for.
All that can be made no problem and wont cost much in the way of materials, my cost, or what i charge for all of that 250 credits, survey tools, 300 credits crafting tools, 2k harvesters, 5k windmill, power 1cpu Soo even at those prices that is only what 17k? but resource cost is lots less. that would get um into crafting, and beable to make everything in the artisan book.
Still havent gotton an e-mail for an Apprentice, hmm maybe my whole slave talk scared um away hehe, But im leaving radiant anyway for chimeara.. soo if you want add Arria, chimaera Im not a master there and dont have much in the way of money or resources as ive only been there 2 weeks, but i can still help with some basics aka starter pack 1 and knowledge : )

I have been geting tells on bloodfin because of this thread. And each time i get more and more suprised that its working as intended.
So I say to the rest of the master or long time artisans if you see a server thats not listed that your on or one that has only one name. Go ahead and get yourself added to help out a new crafter. Lately what i have been getting are fighters converting to crafting.
There not asking for handouts there just looking for someone to help answer questions for them.
