Thread: Weapon Powerups
I've been pumping out power ups for some time now, and there are patterns.
First off, Experimentation is what determines the final states. If you get the same final percentage in Experimentation (I can get maxed Experimentation on Powerups), you will get identical modifier statistics on items that produce the same effect. As an example, I had a Muzzle that improved both Wound Chance and Maximum Damage by percentages of something like 15% and 28%. Now, I crafted another Muzzle, maxed out Experimentation, and while the NAME of the Muzzle was different, the Stats (Wound Chance and Maximum Damage) were IDENTICAL.
So experimentation determines the percentage modifier.
The amount you can experiment is determined ENTIRELY by the Quality rating of the materials you use. For example, using 900+ Quality Chemical and Metal will allow you more experimentation than using low Quality Chemical and Metal.
There you have it.

I don't even see that the powerups that I make actually do anything at all. They don't seem to affect the weapon at all when I attach it.
I may be doing something wrong, which is very likely. I still haven't "caught on" to the crafting in this game. I'm not sure how to tell which resources I should use when I can choose from several.
As an unrelated note, is there a website I can go to, tolearn about crafting?
Thanks!

Well last night on naboo i went through about 600 gems highest quality on naboo and 400 Omni which is the highest quality polymer on there. And looking at all the different powerups. I focused on Couplers and muzzles 50/50 ratio. Now being a master artisian i got it up to 92% efficiency. I dont think you can go higher. Though i could be wrong. But after looking at all the items it is indeed random. To bad you cantmake a guaranteed thing cause i would love to make a few powerups that just increase the min and max damage of an item. Now i dont know how this works on a factory scale. If anyone has access to a factory then i guess we can find out if we can make the same type or does the factory produce the same version over and over again.
Also I think it would be beneficial if we could see what the powerup can do before we make a prototype item or a schematic. For every other item you can see the statistics of the item but for powerups and for crafting stations you have to wonder.
Maybe that can be addressed in a later patch because i dont want to waste my time crafting something that just increases the special move cost of an item.
Hello there.
I was wondeirng, being a pistoleer myself, I use powerups a lot. But I don't know if other people do.
I want to experiment on making good weapon powerups for people to buy... but do they?
So do you think they'll be useful if I sold the good kinds? I don't mind spending time making worthless powerups when I can get a good one now and then. It's not my main profession, and I can run missions to pay for my harvesters and all.
So money isn't really a problem, I just would like to see if people would buy good powerups. Maybe when I get better, make a premo weapon/powerup combo type thing.
People vastly under estimate the value of powerups.
If you are on Eclipse and you need Good powerups, Cylus Harbinger on Corellia near Kor Valla will be happy to make you as many as you like. Send me an email.
My Ranged Powerups typically give around 35% on one stat and 15% on a second.
I also try to keep them stocked in my Vender.
So are all the powerups random? or doe sthe actual effect get determined by expirmental success?
Like I have seen a ton of stocks. and couplers. but people always want the stocks of loading.
I made a stock of loading last night when I had a 78% expirmental success.
As a Carabineer, I buy every action cost reducing weapon powerup I can find on the Bazaar, preferrably with an interesting 2nd modifier. When they get up to 30% cost reduction, they can make a high HAM Carbine go a lot further.
Keep putting them on the bazaar, and Carabineers in the know will keep buying them...
I do wish I could factory produce them though.
