Thread: Vehicle Base Costs (3cr, 5cr, 7cr per unit) & prospective retail costs
Greets ...
Lots of good stuff on here ... with an occasional "moron" thrown in (see 75k limit person).
The bottom line is always going to be "cost of resources".
In this game there is a "miner profit" and a "crafter profit" and those that do their own mining get both profits.
The problem comes in when a Miner/Crafter decides they only want the 1 profit. Those folks are generally farily new to the game and have not really had much success volume wise.
The reality is that resources only cost about .25ish to pull out of the ground for a throughly built up miner ... and generally those resources sell for 3-1 ... that's a 12-1 mark-up right there ... and because of that markup, the crafter get squeezed ... the talk right now is 4-1 to 7-1 regarding finished product markup's.
If Miner/Crafter ends up at 4-1 ... what they are really as is 12-1 markup on the resourcesthen .3-1markup on the finished goods...
But they don't see it that way ... they see it as "look at all these credits I am making".
What cracks me up is that some of the resources that are going to be used for making vehichles are the same resources that some crafters will pay 6-1, 8-1 and even 10-1 and up for ... yet they will go into vehichles to be sold at 4-1 ... what a waste.
I believe that what will happen is that vehichle will end up around the 4-1 mark and be made out of the *left overs* of everybodies junk resources ... it may not start that way ... but you will see vehichles be made out of the *left overs* instead of the really good stuff after 30 days or so.

Thats exactly what Im talking about, the new duralloy on my server is 1000SR which is great for vehicles but If I were to sell it I could get probably 10cpu, in a month or two who knows how much it would be worth.
I also look at inflation, a holocron is not a bad deal if you can get one for 4 million (some for 8million), selling items at 2cpu wont get you there, weapons, and armor are but a few of the high priced items that dictat prices for other items like resources.
Howdy;
Gave friends a few and sold a few. Something odd was noticed during the process (and NO, I don't mean the Scooter Graveyards, Yah?). There were many folks selling for way lower than what I would rate as a good price. Some offers were for LESS than 3 cpu !?!
Ok, fine by me. PLAN A: Wait for 2 days. When everyone is out of minerals and out there hand cranking /samples to make ends meet - I will continue to sell mine for what I want to receive for the effort. It is working about opposite to what I expected (large gouge during initial days). I am going to hold out for at Least 8-10 cpu, since I am tossing enough metal out there for a few dozen weapons, this seems logical to me.
One critical failure already also. So, I just tossed 24 guns into the bin (swell). That was when all my prices went up a notch. Non-Weapon Smiths are used to seeing a Crit Fail on large chunks of goods - or so I am told - but that alone will keep my Scooter making to a minimum.
Bottom line is get whatever is out there. If it isn't enough for you, ride those puppies yourself before you sell them at cost. I see these things going to the $40K, $50K, and $65K ranges once all the last few weeks accumulated metals are consumed. And that is about Twice current prices !?! Like I said, seems to be going backwards from what one would have expected <shrug>.
Bye For Now, DRUM
