Thread: Artisans ubernerfed last patch!
The mission waypoints change I assume because someone else might have destroyed your objective before you reached it, or something like that... it's usually moved someplace close by. As far as the changes are concerned, I think 25 seconds is a tad long but its doable. And it doesnt take "all day" to do missions for money, I can go make 10k in a matter of an hour or so just doing simple destroy missions. Its not-that-hard.
My harvesters are all up and running with plenty of steam.. and it feels nice not to have to "learn how to make a macro that i can hit and go to sleep".
I think they saw a problem with the economy, and that advancement in the artisan field was too quick so they tried to plug in a time sink.I am not a fan of the increased down time added to sampling because I personally just sample so that I can make traps and help my friend the medic gather components to make stim packs. Since I was surveying anyhow I worked up the artisan crafting tree and in two weeks topped out engineering 4 in my spare time, was it too easy? It was fairly time consuming but I had little else to do while sitting in the hospital healing stat damage after destroy missions.
Basically the patch just adds a little tedium to the life of the sampler ( for what ever reason) that was not there, No huge problem, just a little extra down time.
I play on Starsider, one of the lucky few, and there are a zillion and five artisans. I have seen more master artisans, droid engineers, and other advanced careers than I care to count. Yes, it is cheaper to just let the maintenence run down on a harvester and build a new one than to pay for the upkeep, but that's not exactly fair to the person who only has one harveser. However, I've been gone from my computer for five days and haven't had the oppurtunity to turn them off so that they don't go to 0 upkeep. Fortunately I did on;y have half of them running, but now it will be near impossible for me to repair the ones that were running. I mean, it is hard enough being a medic and an artisan, having to run back and forth from my harvesters to the hospital. I just think that SOE could have tried to solve the macro problem and not punish all the artisans for the few people who did things unfairly. That's just my opinion tho, I could be wrong.

So, Which Class Should Get the Major Nerfing up the Rear Next???
It seems every class I start.. They Nerf...
During Beta I was a Brawler.. Got to Tera Kasi..... NERF!!!!!!
Now, I decide to try my hand at an Artisan..... NERF!!!!!!
Ok, I might be over reacting.. But, it sure seems that way to me. I did like the Mentioning of comparing Harvestors to Weapons... But, that would actually work with everthing in game... So, If you nice House isn't paid up to 100%.. You shouldn't be able to Enter.. Guns.. below 100% shouldn't fire... Armor.. should decay at 5times the normal rate when below 100.. and such..
This is crap that it's only our Harvestors...
Like was already mentioned. I'm a Casual Player.. skip a couple of days. Play a few hours here and there.. though, I started at Release day.. I finally got Eng. 4... have Surveyor 4... Dom.2 and thought I was doing pretty good. Now, I'm contemplating dropping the whole thing. Or just useing what resources I have left.. and when they are gone.. Reclaim my Skill points...
I think Every Artisan should start Sending in /BUG about the Harvestor at 100%...
The Sampling and Action I can Live with.. The Harvestors, as I play by myself, and not constantly.. I can't afford to run Harvestors anymore...
Thank you Devs. For Screwing Melee combat and now the Casual Playing Artisan.

I sell a suit of bone armor every night, and that's all I make. A full suit. At 1000 creds per piece (1500 per BP), which is just barely over supply cost (actually, under, if you count that scouts are overcharging the only source of bones/hides half the time). And yes, for all you doubters, bone armor is useful (even better than Mabari) to certain types of players depending on the occasion, and a lot of people like it because it looks nice. Three nights of playing will advance you from third to fourth tier in the artisan skill of your choice. Every day you'll make enough money to support your harvesters plus profit. That is, if it's not buried under the other 500 unexperimented bone BPs people made to skill up.
On the other point, when people sell superior armor/weapons for 250 credits a piece, they're undermining their business and the profession. People will whine when you inevitably raise your price. Now that there's actually a money sink, instead of complaining about it, charge more for your services. Houses should never be selling for only several thousand while vibroknucklers sell for 10K. It will even out after a while.
Also, maybe this will encourage some of the hundreds of leisure artisans who are selling for ridiculously cheap or giving their wares away because they sample while they're raising three other skills to go back to their day jobs. Frankly, artisan is not for the very casual gamer (although I manage to get everything I need to done within several hours a night, which is casual compared to a lot of other MMORPGs I've played). It needs to be a little difficult to make sure demand is at least close to supply, or else everyone's going to be a combatant with at least one elite artisan tree.
So, once again, thanks to the devs for the latest patch. Now, if they fix the "harvester off but still deteriorating" and "no resources of any type for the elite professions in the galaxy" problems (and maybe think about toning down first-tier harvester upkeep a teeny bit), I'll consider Artisan to be a fairly balanced profession.
About harvesters slower than sampling. Everybody is using personal harvesters, and saying that they are mining slowly. I believe that once people start building medium and heavy harvesters, you'll see just how slow sampling already was.
Anyhow, may the force be with you.
Freaking Whiners... Why don't you all quit then. Go shoot stuff. Go hit stuff. Go do something else. Leave the crafting to us.
That will just make me more valueable as an architect.
Please go. I'll make you a weapon. You'll have fun. go try. Let me make all the stuff and get rich.
Granted, the changes make the game more difficult, but what did you want? To be able to find anything you need immediately, and progress to the rank of Master Architect in less than a month? Be for Real. You want this game to be easy. Go play Civilization II, or Diablo. You are taking up my bandwidth!
I'm not too happy about the latest patch either. I casually play the game as an Artisan and Carbineer - doing both fighting and surveying/crafting as I see fit. This latest patch takes away my ability to make myself my own items. Mass producting crafters should be forced to pay for the harvesters, etc. The harvesters output should be increased, not have LoneSurveyor's sampling rate killed. Macroing was the problem and that should've been nerfed therefore forcing those macro'ers to purchase harvesters. Since, I am a "casual player", I never flooded the market with items because I didn't have time to.
I feel like I'm rambling here, but it's because I now feel "lost" in the game... I don't know what to do now since my "fun" has been severely hampered(and because Carbines are messed). I wanted to be that guy whomadehis speeder in hisgarage all by himself...
To illustrate my displeasure:
Last night was a complete waste of time. Since sampling was broke - not even allowing me to even sample high % sources of metal, I decided to join a huntinggroup. Since I'm an Artisan, I'm not too good in a fight once Istart getting hit.Since I also use a Carbine, I'm not too good ina fight. Anyways, my night consisted of spending 30 minutes trying to sample, 30 minutes of running out into deep Tatooine, 5 minutes of fighting in a group resulting in me getting "owned" but only incappedby Tuskens and the 30 minutes of me running back home to Mos Espabarely escaping Gunrunners and some of Jabba's finest. I accomplished nothing and felt like I did nothing.
Is it my mistake or did not the Devs promise that the casual player will feel like he/she actually did something during their limited playing time?
On a side note:
Several hours per night is not a Casual Gamer. You are Hardcore. Notice I did not call you a Power Gamer...
I realize that it will take a while for the game to settle out, but I also remember that this game was supposed to also be for the Casual Gamer and that they could be anything they wanted to be in the game. We bought thegame, pay the monthly fee anduse the Bandwidth exactly the same wayas you do.
The game is not balanced when it comes to Harversters vs. Surveyor/Sampler's vs. Macro'ers vs. Crafters. It is out of whack too much.
