I'm not sure if you know, but crafting stimpacks does not give general crafting experience, or it might give like 1xp at a time. It gives a seperate kind of xp, Medical Crafting xp, which will not help you if you are planning to be a weaponsmith/droid eng/ etc. The only thing it will allow you to become is a bio-engineer, which is pretty sweet too, especially with all the CHs running around nowadays (probably a better market than droid engineers now).

For crafting exp, there really is no faster way of doing it than sitting down and clicking your mouse till you get carpel tunnel or something. The only tip that I can think of, which I'm sure most people know (but you'll be suprised at the people out there) is to have many of the same type of crafting tool. I have 3 food/chem kits to make stims and their components. This way, when a part is being made, I don't have to wait 50seconds or so to make the next one. I just use my other kit. Still takes forever.

If I remember correctly, reinforced wooden staffs give about 80 xp and require something like 15 wood and 15 metal. I hope I never see another wooden staff in my life...

The more materials used to make the item, the more XP gained.

I'm a beginner Artisan. What is practice mode?? And what does it do for you?

Thanks

On the last stage of crafting (where you get to name the item) there is a small check box labeled "practice" at the bottom left of the crafting window.

If you check this box (it will remember what the selected last time) the item is not physically made (there-by not cluttering up you inventory with things you don't want/need) but you get a 10% bonus to the xp you receive.

If you use the practice mode, just remember to turn it off BEFORE making anything you actually want to keep. It's important.

Make that a 5% bonus to xp, not 10.

Word of advise, don't post in the forums when you're at work, you make mistakes!

Well, I hit Master Artisan/Novice Tailor in four days with a little bit of grinding, and a lot of surveying/mission taking to pay for resources and sample them myself. I started up the domestic arts tree knowing I wanted to be a tailor/weaponsmith(tailor first), and discovered several good grinding items in that tree. The first was shortsleeve shirts, which give 60 exp, I believe. Then, at domestic arts III or IV I found the item I ground with through Engineering IV and Business IV: Soft Undershirts. 45 materials each, and 90 exp. (94 with practice mode.) I stuck with those for awhile, and got Master pretty fast.

The best item I found for general crafting XP is multiperson camps. They require 8 hide and 4 bone and give 52 general crafting XP in practice mode. The only thing is you need to be a scout with Survival II (I think)to make them. A basic camp requires 4 hide and 2 XP and gives 26 XP in practice mode, and you only need Novice Scout to build them.
