I'm just glad that the Artisan profession (not elite) finally has something to market.

What, is there something wrong with Nemodian Bird Cages?

I think that the resource increase is a good idea, it will keep the number of speeders down so that the cities on live servers dont turn into the parking lots that are on TC.

I also agree that it should be Master Artisan, and not just Engineering IV craftable. I think at just Engineering IV, we would see way too many people selling speeders, because every crafting profession like Droid Engineer, Weaponsmith, Architect, etc.. would be able to craft them right off the bat.

I sell Droids at roughly 5 CPU + variance for time and effort and plan to do the same for vehicles. Quality resources on Ahazi generally run 3-5 CPU (less for LG Ore) so I'm basically only charging a break-even price.

Given this new information on resources required, I will probably be charging 65k for a bike and 85k for a speeder. I still plan to spend the day in Theed crafting on release, but that may change depending on the actual release day. It is December, after all, and I have a couple of vacations coming this month (as I'm sure others do as well.)

Now it's just the initial cost of mining that many resources

I guess I can look forward to 200Kc+ price on release day (and hope that's all). I'll worry about crafting my own when the next Holocron says in a deep booming voice... Master Artisan.

So much for the vision that vehicles will be easily afforadble, perhaps prices will stablize at a lower than 50Kc level, but given the skill / large resource requirements that appears remote. The good news is I can still have a fine market in Pet Mounts as those seem easiers to produce in the effort and cost, even with mount prices going under 20k. Cheap mounts are very attainable if you grow your own BE pets and beg or pay for the mount training.

I was hoping that with the requirements at Engineer skill, and resource needs modest, vehicles would be attainable by the masses. Even self craftable in your initial 30days of game play. It seems that that won't happen easily and your best chance is get lots of credits... and buy one.

Question.

How does the SR of the metals affect the final speeder?

I expect to see high prices the first few days for all the vehicles, then I agree the prices will taper downward. I would expect it to level out at 50k for bikes and 75 for speeders. Why? Since there will be a large demand, and the resources are moderately high, it will limit the number each crafter can make.

I burned up a lot of steel and fiberplast making it to MDE, but 100k of steel will only get you about 8 vehicles. So, I expect there will be a lot of crafters/artisans who may not have a stockpile of 1million steel. I certainly don't. I would expect to see only a few crafted each day as the initial resouces are used up.

Maybe I'm off here, but that is what I would predict anyway. If an artisan doesn't mine their own steel, buying it for 3-5cpu will require them to sell the vehicles for at least 7 - 10 cpu to make any decent money.

This is great.

Moving to MA was a great Idea and uping the resources was an even better idea. This is vehicle it should require alot of resources, expect 10 - 100x more for ships.

I was not looking forward to the over abundance of Vehicles if it had gone live the way it was. The way they had it with the resources I have now, I could have churned out about 200 vehicles the first day it was out. And I am an average resource collector. They way they have it now, I might be able to make about 15-20 of them. That is more realistic.

I better hold on to that 100k of steel. I agree this is more realistic, finally after all these months of being a DE and debating wether or not to drop MA I can finally hold off.

I would not be suprised to see schematic change again before release. Maybe less resources but harder to get ones

Hopefully they'll step back from the bulk bin and add in subcomponents and subassemblies ala droids.

Except... ones that actually DO something when you experiment on 'em.
