I completely love the first idea with the NPC trading missions, however there should be two extremely important limiting factors.
#1. Must have:
Novice Artisan to access"low-low"missions
Master Artisan to access "low-high" missions
Novice Elite-Artisan to access "high-low" missions
Master Elite-Artisan to access "high-high" missions
#1a. Missions based 50% on total Artisan experiance, 50% your highest "Total" Artisan Master profession
example:
50% Artisan =(General Crafting Xp + Engineering Xp + Domestic Xp + Business Xp + Survey Xp)
50% Artisan Master = Similar to Artisan, but with Weaponcrafter, Armorcrafter, Chef, Marketer, etc... as long as Novice Artisan is a prerequisite to that Skill-line
#2. Only 1 mission can be accepted at a time, and a top-limit must be implimented on how much stock a player can buy, to prevent artisan missions from generating 100k creds in 15 min.
The main idea here is to promote travel and exploration. The payout should cover the cost of travel and a little bit of profit. Limiting the range in which the traders buy and sell each given item would help control the payout.
Example:
Iam in Keren on Naboo and I buy 1k in silk from Trader Bob for 3 credits per. I decide to go check Tatooine for a trader to buy it. After visting a city or 2 on Tatooine I find Trader Sam buyiny silk for5 credits per. If I sell to Trader Sam ive made 2000 and then have to take the cost of travel out of that which would leave me with probley 700 or 800 credits in profit.
Now lets say I decided to go search on Yavin instead. The cost of the ticket to Yavin from Naboo if huge. Also factoring in that risk involved in searching Yavin for the Trader. I find Trader Ken on Yavin out in the wilderness and he buys my silk for 9 credits per. After the cost of the ticket I still make about 1500 credits for the risk involved in finding him.
The idea is to pay people to get out there and explore
Unless they like cloning.....
