Nothing...

er well furniture

or walking billboards, that's all

There's a reason droids say thank the maker and not thank the devs... who else would want to make such a useless toy?

A few days ago I made my Master in Droid Blueprint.
Imagine my horror when I realized that the Protocol Droid and Binary Load Lifter are almost completly useless...

Protocol droids hold 2 general droid modules so they can hold 6 modules right now... mainly because of bugs but heck .. might as well exploit while we can.

Add room for 50 items in this droid. If you choose to add a storage module to the droid, you should be able to put another 10 items into the droid.

Basicly a 40-50k (what I would sell them for) extra backpack. I know that I would buy one if I were any other crafter than DE meself.

Good reasons to implement this:

1. In what way could this POSSIBLY imbalance the game? NONE what so ever. The only thing this relies on is theabilitiesof the programmers.

2. It would be the logical functionality of the binary load lifter, to lift loads.

3.The binary load liftersare the TOP NOTCH droids of the DE proffession. It's the most costly to make, and involves the most headaik to build. These droids reallydeserves to be something else than a huge pile ofscrap metal.

here is what i would like to use a BLL for.

  • You set the Patrol Points to your harvestors and let the guy run loose. He basically walks around picking up the resources for you or deposits power in them. (NO MORE HARVESTOR RUNS!!!!!!!)

  • I load the BLL up with merchandise and send him to another persons location to deliver the good they have ordered

it would be interesting to ask the devs what purpose they saw for certain droids.. IE whay are they in the game.

Considering that neither the surgical droid, the repair droid or the binary load lifter droid have any special abilities at all, they are just a neat looking chassie, I take that as a sign that the devs do find this challenging.

I'd also like the binary load lifter to be able to do all those things you mentioned, but why not ask for something that's a bit simpler? Honestly I think the devs will have enough of a challenge implementing room for 50 extra items in the BLL.

i agree it would be nice if it had more storage, but 50 is a lot. with 5 droids in the data pad that means some people could have 250 item storage in their droids.

anyway, the issue of database stability has come up in the past with regard to giving players access to too much storage. a 50 item storage droid wouldn't unbalance the game, but it may very well be that is such a droid became popular it could have a negative impact on the server's stability.

there is no way we can know for sure, but from what I've heard in the past from soe'svoiceshere, it seems possible that stability may be a concern with increasing the droid storage cap for any droid. unfortunately.

My second thought about improving the BLL would be to give it the most module slots of the droids in the game.

It's the biggest, and most expencive in the game, so it makes sence.

Give the regular BLL 7 module slots and the adv one 8.

But I'd at least try the 50 item BLL on the test servers.

ANY change in the game might cause instability (and they usually do before beeing debugged). The idea shouldn't bediscardedbecause it MIGHT cause instability to the servers, without even testing it.

How about this? Lift the 10 item cap off the inventory modules for the BLL. If I recall correctly(can't check it ingame now) each inventory module has a rating like, say 12. Supposedly that would mean it could carry 12 items if it wasn't for the cap. Then either change the current slot from a slot to a socket OR give the BLL 2 slots(depending on what you want the maximum inventory to be.

Well i just thought of something that might balance out letting the BLL store more items (30 say)- would it be possible to let it store crates only- this seems to me in keeping with the flavour of the BLL and would be really useful to crafters. Stops people storing suits of composite/ blocks of resources in it etc.
Don't know if this would help database overhead or not... just a thought.
