I only disagree that it doesnt make sense, to me it makes perfect sence. The only nonsencial market is the 3 cr resource market. Dont get me wrong, I dont sell anything at a loss. All my materials are mined at 0.3 CRU so I have a lot of leeway on pricing.

I dont price anything based on "Units to Create" if I did that then the quality of the item would not matter.

I price based upon the rate that my customer expects to pay. If they expect to pay 50k I sell for 40k. That tactic makes for making a lifetime customer. My main rule is to remember who it is I work for, I work for my customer, they are the ones that hand me the money.

I could make more money selling on the outrageous resource market, but I dont find that as interesting or as fun.

In real life I also happen to be a Hot Air Balloon pilot as a sideline business. I have a fantastic supply of propane that I can aquire in moderate quantities for quite a bit less than it sells for retail. I could dump my Balloon in a landfill and make more money re-selling the propane than I do as a Balloon Pilot, but Iwont, I enjoy my business, and I enjoy my customers.

Same goes for SWG.

My true cost including re-deeding, mantenance, power and tickets to deliver products is right around 0.3 CPU.

Tips

Only use 10 BER Med extractors

When there is a shift in resoruces dont panic, wait a day or so and see what else pops up on the same spot.

Become a merchant and get a discount in pay mantenance.

Plan ahead, it is better to drop 7 or more extractors on a single good quality resource and leave them there for 5 days or more and not have to harvest that particular resource again for months.

When a class 7 radioactive apears drop every Ion Generator you have on it. Do not pick them up until it is gone. With a few generators you can store enough power to last many many months.

Dont let distances daunt you, I will travel across a planet to drop an extractor on a 90% spot over a 75% spot.

Your way of doing things is to minimize cost of mining by excluding the extracost of heavies and powerand to build a smaller base of customers than you could have done. I bet you also don'tsurvey aggressively but are content to mine whatever you have found until it runsout.Which is cool and good for you if you have fun.

There are several other approaches to this "business" though, that works just as well if not better. Given the huge resource turnaround each day onevery server, there are room for all kinds. I have made a lot of credits by buying resources from miners like you and reselling them to crafters and even other resource resellers.

Vaedross:

Your old post doesn't take into account new BER 13 harvesters, a fleet of bugged BER 20-30 fusions. On a good >70% site, including power and re-deed costs, and a 7 day run, resources cost less than .3cpu, that and often times something else will spawn undernieth that you can use (were getting steel, all of a sudden a 50-60% ore site appears undernieth) so you just finish getting the steel till it shifts, then switch over to ore, no re-deed costs. We still use harvesters placed by people who have long since quit the game, because they're still profitable.
