No it wasn't, I was a crafting CM and it was painful to lose crafting.

However the Devs wanted to split the crafting from the combat profession, which from a certain point of view makes sense will not get reversed.

Your comment about: "There was even a resource needed that has not spawned for over 6 months" is the way many CMs crafted pre-CU so nothing has really changed there.

pre CU I pretty much bought all my stuff for CM. I had spent so much time collecting resources to craft for Doctor, I just didnt have the motivation left to start again with CM. The only thing I really miss about the crafting in CM is the option. There were a lot of times I had to craft things because I couldnt find them at vendors or ran out of packs in the field. So it really hasnt effected me too much. Crafting made Docs and CMs diverse, one of the main reasons I liked both profs, since I loved crafting, but also liked being able to contribute to my guild in combat. Now we are just another combat prof. I still think it is kind of stupid that we can use all our skills without the pharmaceuticals to back them up, it has resigned us to being wizards or something.
