Thread: No business WHATSOEVER!

Convenience is the key word there. One 'ideal' location to sell them would be right next to a popular cloning station on an adventure planet (think 'Lok' for example). Imagine you're an adventurer who forgot to insure, forgot to clone, got killed in the middle of a hectic group mission. Are you *really* going to fly to another planet, hop a shuttle to some out of the way town, then spend ten-fifteen minutes looking for a vendor with excellent prices, just to save 4k on a single repair kit? (You probably don't want to clutter up your inventory with factory crates, after all that takes up the room you need for all that 'phat lewt' you're there to collect!)
Or are you going to quickly look on the bazaar and grab the first 99.99% one you see? After all, your buddies are depending on you getting back into the fight as fast as possible.
I sell 99.99% repair kits at about 800 credits each in crates of 5 and 10 on my vendor, in an out of the way town on a remote planet, but I also sell a dozen a day on the bazaar at 5-6k each. My vendor (on the planetary map) sells *maybe* one crate every 2-3 days.
Oddly enough, there are folks selling crates of 99.99% repair kits for 800 - 1k per unit on the exact same bazaar that my singles are selling for 6k. Go figure! (It all has to do with how easy it is to find what you're looking for as fast as possible, which all a part of what makes the difference between a 'successful' artisan/merchant and an 'unsuccessful' one. Understand the customer.)
I usually ignore the spammers outside starports as part of the scenery. Outside Coronet I just wish they'd go away, as they always seem to stand in a 10m x 10m area with the medics and solo groupers and it's impossible to read anything anyone's saying. I mean it's a pretty big area outside the starport - why can't they just spread out a bit?

When I'm shopping for something I always find vendors via the CTRL-V map, so if you're not advertising on the world map then I'm never gonna visit.

To me its a few things,,
1, your over priced.. crafting tools go for about 200-300 credits a peice
2, repair tools even 99% anything more than 1k is a total jip
3, if your spaming at starports its more likely you are hitting ignore lists. I for one never will buy from any spammer, and willtell myfreinds who the spamers are none of them will be hitting those shops either, spaming is one way to kill a business.
now to change this
1, lower prices
2, use the bazzar to help advertise. Make a repair tool with your shops way point and set it on auction for 1 cpu. Then stock up 24 repair tools. if they sell out restock, make sure they are always stocked.
3, crates of power ups on the bazzar for 2.5k is an other good seller, I sell um for 2.5k on the bazzar 1.2k at my store.. Bazzar is always slightly higher unless i want to dump sttuff, I sell composite on the bazzar all the time.
4, when you get known from having a good store word of month is much better than a spaming. 95% of the stores i goto are by recomendations. 5% i stumble apon.. If i stumble on a spamers vendor, i wont by anything even if its one credit..
Good luck in the future

Good points, except I disagree withthe spamming thought. Some people do ignore all spammers, true. If you spam your message every 20 seconds, you deserve it, lol. But I, for one, shop by listening to the spam in starports a lot of times. It can be a quick way to find what you need.
And as for sales, it works! I have tried this out and gotten the following results:
No spamming = 1x sales
Me spamming in Cnet or Theed for my Moenia shop = 2.6x sales
Me spamming in Moenia + droid barking in Cnet or Theed = 4.2x sales
Me + droid + a friend in Bestine or Mos Eisley = 6.1x sales
This is based on randomly using these various advertising approaches 7 times each (once on each day of the week) and averaging the data. When I did the full court press on a weekend, the results are far greater even still. So I would advise you to advertise by using a droid, spamming yourself, and hiring a couple of newbies (as many as you can afford) to hit busy starports.
And don't forget to spam the auction channel, as more and more people are reading that when shopping. It seems to be increasing my sales, but I have not studied it yet. Just use:
/au ***spam message;
/au ***spam message;
/pause 180;
/ui action toolbarSlot23;
for your macro syntax.
But first thing: make sure you have a variety of high quality, cost competitive products that people want on your vendor. I bought one set of tools when I started that were 14.8, and used them until I could make a better set, which I still use a year later. Most serious artisan classes will not even consider a tool less than 14.5 or so for work that requires experimentation. So you might consider discounting those lesser tools heavily, and coming up with a product that sells in volume. Ask some Droid Engineers or other artisan classes if they need suppliers for components. Approach pvp guilds and offer to build speeders in crates for them. Etc.
Also, don't shout too often. Anyone who is looking for what you have by reading the spam at a starport will find your message if you shout it every 90-180 seconds. More often is a bother, and more likely to get you igmored, I think.

LOL...one word for ya...nightsisters, get to close and be prepared to pull another bike out of a crate. nightsisters love killing bikes more than they love the dark side of the force ![]()
second big reason for crates of swoops is pvp ... alot of people buy crates so they don't have to be as concerned about losing bikes while attempting to scout out targets. for a rifleman to target a bike just to get an overt/tef'dplayer off of it is not that unusual.
in this case, its not about being stupid or careless, its about strategy and sacrificing a bike to do it
