You are OBVIOUSLY not an artisan and have no idea what you are talking about. We are NOT rich. Combat-types have far more money.

bah!

some artisans have money. some don't. some combat types have money. some don't. its usually those powergamer types that have money. but combat types CERTAINLY don't have the kind of dough to purchase a holocron. i don't know of any that ground out 5-10million worth of missions and would be willing to spend it on a holo. WS and AS sometimes will have the money for that kind of a purchase, but usually only the ones who've been around for a while and have a great reputation.

if you are an artisan with money, go buy a holo.

if you are not, go group with a combat type, using your l33t CDEF pistol andnovice marksman skills (or a rep blaster, if the cert is for everyone now?) and loot a dark trooper or a rebel surface marshall.

come on fellows, i mean... this game was designed with social interdependancy in mind. as an artisan you have little chance of defeating a holocron level npc on your own, you have two choices: group with fighters and ninja-loot with the best of them, or buy a holo. or just start grinding your way to pistoleer or something... in the future there will probably be a way to do it as an artisan but as it stands now, thats how you do it! fin!

besides! if you are an artisan and you don't want to take up combat, why the heck do you want to be a jedi!? and if your reason is that you can be a jedi with a different character and you just don't want to change your main character, then you shouldn't want a holo!

either way, you are going to either end up fighting or changing your profession, so you may as well switch to a combat class to get a holo. theres enough skill points for you to master 3 professions, so just give up 1 of them and learn a combat profession. you only need a few boxes... pistols 4 from marksman... a few levels of pistoleer... thats good enough to bleed a dark-trooper or surface-marshall to death. and it doesn't take long to get that far, trust me (7 days casual fighting on the new euro-servers got me at least that far).

i have to say i think that artisan types should have some unique way of earning a holo, but the fact remains that once they get it they'll probably have to become a combatant anyways....

Holocrons _arent_ the problem

The problem is the one and only way that the FCSC can be opened (the holocron just takes most of the guesswork/luck out of it)

What players should be pushing for is multiple ways to open the slot, so that people who actually want to play their characters as they intended get a chance to

(please note I'm not saying make it easy I'm just saying make it _possible_)

There should be a way for crafters to get holocrons besides paying 5 million. Agreed.
