Thread: Light food bio component
Just to expand on this a little:
Bio components for food come in 3 'strengths' - Light, Medium and Heavy.
For each strength, there are 4 types: Nutrition (increase buff size), Flavor (increase buff duration), Filling (or 'Mass Reducing' - decrease filling) and Quantity (or 'Food Replicating' - increase quantity).
A chef has to take the Bio-Engineer additives, and use them as a component to make a 'Food Additive' schematic (along with water). This then gets run through a factory, to produce the food additives which can then be used in food production.
Unfortunately, given the mathematics of food production, almost all chefs will use Nutrition additives all the time. There are a very small number of foods where a Flavor additive is more appropriate, and the odd one or two where Filling is useful. Quantity is almost never used.
This is because of the stat ranges on the additives. An average Heavy Nutrition additive might give a 115% bonus to the buff (i.e the buff will be 2.15 x original value). An average Heavy Flavor additive will only give around a 60% duration increase, yet is just as hard to make.
