Using a macro to craft is just plain stupid. It's a cheat and they will eject you from the game for using it. All you really need to do is time how long you can survey before getting tired. Go watch TV or whatever and come back every once in a while to check up on your guy. Luckily for me I have everything right here..TV, PC, XBOX, GAMECUBE, DVD, VCR...lol

This is a good thread and I'm enjoying reading people's ideas on macroing. I do want to add one word of caution though: wandering NPCs. OK, that was two words of caution. So sue me.

Last night, while sampling ore just a kilometer or so outside of Mos Espa,my characterwas attacked by a wandering lizard of some sort. Tann automatically stopped sampling and stood up, but the monster was too tough for auto-attacks to be useful. Had I been AFK, there's a good change Tann would have woken up in a cloning tank...

So if you have to sample for hours on end, keep the music on (so you can hear the fight music cues) and read a book nearby. I hear the Harry Potter book's not bad...

Ok, let me put this myth down now. To CRAFT you need to be at the keys. End of discussion. To SAMPLE you can run a macro. Basically, if you were at the keys you would be doing what is said, reading a book, chatting in group or eating dinner. A Sampling MACRO is not a cheat, why? Because after a while everyone will have their extractors, harvesters and factories rolling. The sampling does not take away from the CRAFTING, to make a good item you need to do the experimentation.

There is a macroing program build right into the game. Look in your options. It’s not a cheat. It’s a tool they gave us, you should try it some time.. its ok. =)
