I dont follow this logic at all.. Longer means tons more will be availible from any resource dealer.. and if youar a little guy, even a few personals which can always be placed on a high % cause you can squeeze um in you can pull up 100k in that time with a friggin BER4 personal..

You dont wanna mine dont do it.. just find a good resource broker that will sell you what you need.

and ROFL WHy are you waiting 2 weeks to get on a resource you need?? and 5k from a startport to find a good spot.. god you have a vehilce it takes 5 mins. You are obvioulsy NOT a miner.. and there is nothing wrong with that.. Mining does need changes but not what you are proposing

Je'Cy "Miner since launch

On intrepid if you are a shipwright you HAVE to mine your own resources, ship prices are now down to 3 cpu, below what the resource sellers get for raw materials, anywhere from 3 to 100 cpu!

I have no problem mining my own, I do it all the time, my example of the 2 week old resource was to prove the point. It was an expierence I had going to look for a resource that I was getting low on. It so happened that it had spawned 2 weeks before and I couldn't find a spot to drop a harvestor that was over 35%, hence why resource shifts are good, if we didn't have them you would never be able to get resources because every good spot would already have harvestors.

Sounds like your trouble isn't so much that the resource shifted, but you didn't know the good places to look.

Miners are good for 1 reason, experience. They know where the best spots on all the planets are, and how to get there as quickly and painlessly as possible. My first week of trying to grab resources consisted of me making a huge X on Tatooine looking for a better than 64% spot of Ore...if only I'd known. That took me a good 2-3 hours to do, which sucked, but I learned from it. Now it takes me about 10-20 minutes per planet that I want to find something on.

Here's a couple more tips:

-Seta minimum percentage you will take. Once you find that, if you see higher, follow it, but if you don't, don't spend all night looking for a 1% higher spot, because sometimes they just don't exist. Drop your harvs there, some is better than none.

-Use the world map too look at terrain. Are there huge mountains in an area? Probably not a good place to drop a mine bigger than personal.

-Beware the POI's. You can't build anywhere near these suckers. 1km away, in a big circle around them. If you're following a particularly good strain and see no harvs around, best check to make sure you're not in a POI Dead zon.

-Don't be afraid to take a risk. If there's a great spawn of something on Tatooine, and it's also on Endor, think before hitting Tatooine. Tat will be crowded with harvs, but endor will be relatively harv free, because there are a lot more agro's. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to find a nice open 96% spot on Endor, where as on Tatooine the 75% spot is covered for 50 meters. There is reward in risk.

Hope those come in handy.
