There are 2 governing stats for crafting tools... Exp. Durability is tied to Decay Resistance at 100%, and Exp. Effectiveness is tied to Conductivity at 100%. So yea, I guess it does matter whatresources you make your crafting tools from. I haven't experimented with this very much, soI can't give you an answer beyond what is in the numbers here. If I find something relevant out, I'll post it here.

There are also testing devices for wind and solar power stations that you'll be able to build when you get to higher skill levels.

My aim is to either become a Weaponsmith or a Smuggler.

We *really* need an Edit button.

What I said was:

Look at your Datapad under Schematics. There are several different kinds of survey tools. I built a Chemical surveyor, and next I'm going to build a Gas surveyor. There are also testing devices for finding the best location for wind and solar power stations that you'll be able to build at higher skill levels.

"can someone please tell me how to find other kinds of resources?"

Every planet has different types of resources. Ex. Correlia (at least during beta) had absolutely no chance of ever having STEEL. So I had to planet hop for materials when I wanted to build harvesters. Some planets have better choices for minerals, some are better for flora, etc. You just need to research a little and hope alot. You'll never find 'Yavinian Fiberplast' on Tatooine =)

Another good thing to do is look for resources around a town, if you don't find what you need, take a shuttle to the next town and look there. I would do this before jumping ship to another planet because it is cheaper and you should be able to find what you need on most planets.

Thanks for the great info Darko...this is the kind of post I like to see. I'm so tired of the whining and flaming.

As for the crafting itself, this is the kind of complexity and depth I was hoping to see in SWG. Sure there are problems here and there, but its inconcievable for a MMORPG to have a flawless launch.

Don't listen to those people who say crafting is boring and repetitive...we know better!

OK, nOOb question:

How do I make different crafting tools? I don't have any schematics for them.

Again a nOOb question:

How did you get a schematic for a Bowcaster?

Excellent guide!

Has anybody seen a database of schematics that includes experimental and construction value percentages yet? I think this would be really useful, but don't want to make one if there's one already available.

OK, on weapons, for the chemical component. Even though it doesn't have the conductivity, the better quality you use, the better the final product will be.

Another thing I've noticed, is when you use the highter quality starting resources, your experimentation has a greater potential overall!

And another bit of advice... rebuilt your crafting tools as you get more experimentation points, and increase the efficiency/effectiveness (at work right now, don't remember what it is) of the tool, this will help your experimentation, plus help yourself out with more UXP.
