I sell 70 percent and higher Swoops For 15k. I still make good money and am not ripping people off

Thats why I sell one hundred a week

You sir, are the one getting ripped off.

Plus by selling at such a reduced price you are taking business away from other crafters selling at a fair price of 35k to 45k.

So you are alsoripping off all other crafters on bria (including myself) and working your butt off for people that could care less about crafters and are only nice to us so they get cheap or free stuff.

Sure my whole guild of 350 people got a free bike, but they are my friends. Everyone else pays full price.

yea with my resources i made over a million on the day of the patch. thats fine by me. i laugh at people when they say they've got a certain resource and want 10/unit, i have even seen a resource go for 30/unit. this is down right disgusting. "hey its a rare resource" or "it has uber stats" so what it still costs the same to pull outta the ground, so why do you insist on gouging people? i friggin hate gougers. GAH!

What if it IS a rare resource? Duralloy Steel that hasn't spawned in over a month and a half, and happens to have stats in 850-950 range.. If I happen to have 200k of it, put it up for auction, and people keep outbidding each other until it goes to the 15-20 cpu range.. how is that gouging? I mean, I didn't set the price

Sure, it costs the same to pull out of the ground, but to the crafters, the good stuff is worth more. It's simple economics, really. More demand for the good stuff increases the price for it.

Nevermind, Vel MUST have been a Business major in a previous life......

GAH!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

Thanks for all the feedback. Based on the posts, it seems I am overcharging a bit based on the 60%. I still wouldn't say I'm robbing people. There just doesn't seem to be anything else worth crafting/selling at the Master Artisan level.

LOL....

Swoops require 8000 units of metal (6400 steel/iron and 1600 aluminium/copper). I know that regardless ofstats, any metal would sell for at least 2cpu. I know of numerous people on my server that will buy practicly any resource you put on their vendor for 2cpu.

So the resources that you put into the bike could have eaisly sold for 16k. That means you are missing out on 1k for each swoopbike that you sell.

Since you sell 100 swoopbike a week, you are roughly missing out on 100k/week. Dont foget critical failures either.

I'll agree with Bluude except on a matter of semantics. Whatever price you charge, you are NOT overcharging. You are charging what you believe to be a price that the market will support. Since Artisans are merchants at heart and not charities, we will charge enough to make profit that we believe is just compensation. People who complain about about our prices have the option of going somewhere else or making it themselves.

Lots of people make accusations of Artisans using terms they don't really understand:

Overcharging: charging more than your regular price to a particular group of people, i.e. someone asks for a price quote on Seeker Droids and you quote them 10k per crate instead of your normal 8k because you smell extra profit or you just don't like their guild.

Price Gouging:charging extra for essential items during or in expectation of a shortage, i.e. $50 for a case of bottled water just before a hurricane that may or may not land. Sometimes, however, there's no helping a price increase in these situations. Real gouging usually involves false hype about a coming emergency.

Ripping off: actually scamming people. Things like marking vehicles as experimented to 90% when there wasno experimentation at all. The most asenine one I've seen was renaming crafted dice as "Holocron" and selling it for 500k.

In all of these examples there has to be an element of real deception on the part of the merchant. Charging more than the next guy or even ten times the next guy means nothing except that you may not sell anything, but that's the market.

Vehicles are too bothersome to sell, eveyones already commented on the problems of people wanting you to sell for far less than the resources are worth. The only vehicles I've sold are those I've picked up cheap from vendors and flogged off for 5k profit in the cities.

I like to keep about 4 vehicle deeds on me at all times, just give a quick shout at each shuttleport you pass through and move on. Keep it fast and adaptable, like all good small business.

I'm selling Swoops for 32K. Considering the resources would sell for 24K @ 3cpu, the danger and time it take to harvest these resources (on Endor), the possibility of critical failure, and they have 60% experimental durability, is this too much?

I was accused of being a 'robbing b-a-s-t-a-r-d' today, but I thought my prices where pretty reasonable:

32K - Swoop, 28K - Speeder, 15K - Landspeeder.

any thoughts?

60% durability! I wouldn't even give em away for free.

Danger to harvest (on Endor). LOL, thats just dumb. You can get steel & alum on cushy little Naboo or other safer planets.

Accused of being a robbing **edit**! Well i wouldn't go that far as u cant actually take there money. They fo have to agree and pay, but its close to the mark
