Thread: Please Sir.. can you spare a quarter?
As already stated...
Don't pay for training. You want to be trained? Walk into a cantina and shout "Can someone teach me Surveying II?" I gaurantee you you'll get trained for free, and probably quickly.
Yes you can make money selling resources. In fact, for artisans this is where the money is. Harvestors aren't that expensive. You can make them when you get engineering III, but I only made one ever. I bought mine from the bazaar, they're usually about 1000cr a piece.
If you sell resources at 3 cr a unit on the bazaar you'll sell fast. Going rate on the bazaar on my server is 6cr a unit. In comparison resources cost about .6cr a unit to make if you're on a good concentration.
If you want to sell something you made, well you won't make nearly as much money but it can be done. Get Engineering IV and Domestic Arts IV, this will take about 24,000 GCXP (If I remember correctly) or about 12,000 resources worth of crafting. This will max out your artisan experimentation and assembly, allowing you to make the artisan goods as well as anyone. You can sell things before this, but not consistently.
Once you get there you can sell weapon powerups, and maybe a few Domestic Arts items. When you hit master artisan you can start selling good repair tools.
My advice? Use this plan of action.
1. Do missions (I recommend Gnort destroy missions on Naboo if you have any kind of combat experience) untill you get about 10,000 cr. Shouldn't take THAT long.
2. Go to the bazaar. Buy a wind generator and two personal harvestors. Also buy at least 1200 units of power. All told this should run you about 8,000 cr tops, less if you can get the power cheaper. If you really don't like running missions, just buy the wind generator and make sure you have about 1500 cr left over (about 2500 cr total).
3. Find a good resource density (80%). Place down the two harvestors. Place the wind generator down somewhere, don't worry too much about the wind %, find at least 20% though.
4. Pay 750 cr into each of the harvestors and 1500 cr into the wind generator. Put 600 units of power into each harvestor.
5. Come back the next day. Empty the wind generator, and put the power in the harvestors. Empty the harvestors. Run back to the bazaar and sell everything for 4 cr a unit.
6. Run missions until you have enough money (3,000 cr) to pay another days maintenance on your harvestors and generators. You may have to pay more if the stuff is damaged.
7. The next day your stuff should have sold. By now you should be getting the hang of things. Expand until all 10 of your lots are being used. Eventually you'll make enough money off the harvestors that you won't have to run missions anymore. This is a time for rejoicing.
8. Keep some of what you harvest for crafting. Craft your way to Domestic arts IV, and Engineering IV. Eventually you'll probably want some business stuff too. Now you can start selling powerups.
At this point you're well on your way.
No.
The power is an item that you pull from the hoper of the wind generator whichyou can thenmanually load into the harvesters.
Great post and it I wold just like to say i did the same thing he did and it works perfectly. Just make sure that you sell your resources but keep some for yourself. His post answers all of your questions Basically. Hope it all works for you.
Doesn't work quite like that.
Your wind generator produces power units, just like your harvestor produces metal.
You can stick as many of these power units in your harvestor as you like.
You need 600 to run the thing for a day.
