You will probably need to experiment with business models before you decide. You might even want to have some Tailor for components, unless you have a good source.

Your business model is based on the questions:

  • What do you sell?

  • At what locations?

  • At what prices?

  • What do you buyversus what do you build or harvest?

  • How do customers know to buy from you?

Lots of different answers will work, from vertically integrated manufacturing sold wholesale to a pure Merchant, to a specialize crafter making stuff from resources and components delivered to your shop by a network of suppliers. Theneeded skills are different for each one. The perfect answer for you is likely to change over time, so the needed skills will as well.

If you harvest, you might plan to keep some combat skills.I hatenothingmore than havingmy heavy harvester camped by agressivemobs too tough for me. I got killed 3 times last week by the same spawn of Desert Demons. How often that happens depends on your skills and pets, and if you are vulnerable to kreetles it can happen a lot. Good friends who can help you out, and are online when you need them, can serve instead.

If you have to buy all your resources and components, your prices will have to be higher. Because price shopping is hard, you may not find that price cutting really improves your sales much. The big challenge is getting somebody who wants your stuff to look at it.

why master merchant though? it only gives you a few perks you could keep the vendor tree and the barking tree and be master tailor that is probably better IMO

yeah if you want to make alot of clothes, master tailor, you dont need hiring, especially if you dont care what your vendor looks like and you would only want to take one tree up to planetary map
