i logged on after up grade 6 so i could make the tool and give myself a nicely decorated speeder, but i could see the tool. i tried in a garage, i tried by a weapons crafting station, with my weapons tool as that the one with the schematics fo the vehicals.

what do i need to do?

has anyone else managed this yet?

and are we thinking of charging player for re-sprays? as they will wear out eventually i read so there will be a constant need for it.

thanks all for any news!

AFAIK the patch hasn't been applied yet (although i'm at work just now). You'll download part of it every day or so for a few days before it is assembled and applied.

So you shouldn't be able to make the tool yet anyways.

Oh yeah, and the tool can be used by anyone once it's made, so i expect most people will want to buy the tool itself from you, rather than have you do the paint job.

As far as how much i'll charge, I haven't decided that yet, I'm afraid.

oh right, well thanks for that. hmmm if i do a full scan shouldnt it work?

or is it being added over the next few days. i think i will just make a load and sell them on a busy bazza for 3k untill they stop selling.its a shame that everyone can do it, will we get crafting xp everytime they are used do you think?

i thought that was what happened with weapons and everything we make. im not sure though.

maybe the tools will only have a limited life time and the more they degrade the shorter the paintjobs life span.

other wise they will all just sell and then never be a need for them again, except for new players.

im gonna try again tonight.

cheers

I think the big patches are "trickled" - that is, downloaded in parts because of the size. The patch isn't actually installed until the last part comes, so doing a scan or whatever won't make any difference.

I believe the tools have only a certain number of uses (3 or 4 maybe - someone who plays on test centre could tell us, i don't know exactly). So what with the customisation fading and all, you'll be able to keep selling them (hopefully).

Regarding usage xp - no one seems sure about how that actually works. Some people think that you have to be online and near the person using the item to get any additional xp, and i think it's a pretty trivial amount anyways. But i imagine it'll work with these new tools in the same way it works with everything else (whatever way that actually is!).

Sorry for two posting - keep forgetting what all i meant to say!

BTW, last i heard the full patch was to be expected middle of february, but that wasn't a fix date. So you may have a bit of a wait stil.

The vehicle painting toolis usuable by anyone but only craftable by Master Artisans. (At least last time I checked). It works similiar to the droid customizing tool in that if can change color for a set time period until it decays (usually each time you call it from datapad it fades a bit). Reason it is usuable by anyone is so that they would continue to sell. People will be inclined to buy moresince they can do the customization themselves instead of trying to track down a Master Artisan to do it for them each time the paint finally fades.

Anyone know what resources are going to be needed to make this tool?

1 Droid Storage Compartment

Conductivity 50%

Overall Quality 50%

Those are almost the exact same materials as the Droid Customization Kit and I hope this changes. The droid Storage Compartment is available at Novice Droid Engineer. And as a Master Artisan that would suck.

Unfortunately my Master Artisan is on Starsider, not Bria so I wasn't able to view the patch from an artisan's perspective, however I did obtain a vehicle customization kit on TestBria. It had 9 charges when I got it, and worked great. (No, I didn't have to do any of the storing that some people have posted about to see the colors and make them stick) Here is the address of a screenshot I took of my Bria character with the vehicleon TestBria. I colored my landspeeder with green trim and a white body.

Enjoy!

Why does a paint job require a droid storage device?? Are we going to be able to place droids in the x34? (of course, why would we do that when we can just put them in our datapad?)

Hey Tralmek, thanks for the pic! That looks pretty cool (i liked the matching outfit ).

I do think it's kinda crazy that a paint kit requires sub-components whilst the vehicles themselves don't, but i don't think it's such a bad thing that they require something from the droid engineers... i like the idea of increasing trade between the various artisan professions. So what if it's a little inconvenient? Personally, I don't inted to mass produce these, but I'm sure there will be plenty DE willing to sell crates of components.
