Thread: We're the artisans, why's the economy crap?
imagine that!, having to fill a tax return in at the end of every SWG year!, they would have to bring in the accountant profession. ![]()
I was thinking that maybe the banks could give loans to new players, they would have to repay the loan in regular installments, and defaulting on the loan would see that player becoming a mission for bounty hunters.
Upon capture, the bankwould then take theplayers possesions until theequivalent amountis reached and the player is penalized financially when using the banks, bazaars etc.
Ifyou were sensible it could help you greatly when starting out.
That's a cool idea. I had (at some point recently) proposed a banking system like the US Fed to contol the release of credits and shepard the inflation.
Hey, I'm serious here artisans! What's wrong with the SWG economy? We're suffering from hyper-inflation. It's so bad that a weapon power up and a wind generator go for the same price one day, and can be bought by the crate dirt cheap the next.
It's so bad that loozer beggars in the street can get a 50,000 pity donation from an uber-grinder. Then the jerk get nasty about it if they don't have the same luck the next time they run out of cash and don't want to work for it.

i vote: too much money supply due to credit dupers.
Solution: part one has been implemented, eliminate the exploit and the exploiters! Part two introduce more money sinks. these can be tailored to target the high bank accounts either through a tax return or some other high cost (read STARSHIP after EXPANSION) item is introduced to game. at first, the starships may be NPC created. sucking huge amounts of credits from the economy. duped credits now gone from the game, Starships then migrate to a new profession tree for sale at LOWER PRICES. Lets all remember that while prices and demand for resources are high, that means that more competitors will enter the supply side of the market. this will push the price down on resources. what throws a monkey wrench into the whole thing is a lack of a critical piece of the puzzle. COMPLETE MARKET DATA. you can find the price of a barrell of oil real easy. go to the Chicago BOT or look up in the Wall Street Journal and boom, youve got it. there is no ticker for dolovite iron in SWG. probably wont be one ever either. but that is the final piece to the puzzle.

Ok Devs, take a look. This man's got ideas. I have the exact same problem. In real life I shop around for a poduct, to get the lowest price. I try to the same in SWG, but some of the distances are too **edit** far, and I wind up loosing money if I have to jump around too many planets. Get some way to view a vendor from a distance or get average price tickers. Any ways so that I dont get swindled into paying 60k for a swoop when down the street a guy is selling them for 35k.
Boys and girls before you can run around claiming the house is burning down (inflation) try to prove it.
Maybe yall just suck and are sick of being broke?
two words: Credit Dupes.
The definition of inflation is: A persistent increase in the level of consumer prices or a persistent decline in the purchasing power of money, caused by an increase in available currency and credit beyond the proportion of available goods and services

Are you crazy to actually think that there is no inflation?
Providing a definition is not proof of a problem.
You'd have a tough time attempting to prove inflation via consumer price increases.
There is no "credit" in this game.
Provide figures detailing the decline of the purchasing power of in-game credits.

the proof is in the playing. well said O-jen. this guy just thinks his post count equates superior inteligence. oh well, let us continue in a productive way so as to mitigate the chance of dev deletion phenomonon
I still cant get past the fact that the credit dupes are the lone cause. if everyone just started printing dollars off their hp laser printer, how fast would prices go up? come on. mission prices are in line with costs in game. mineral harvesters are not the problem, they just contribute to the overall wealth distribution. to look at inflation in the economy, you pin it down to the money supply in the overall economy. you have a point concerning the prices of the finished goods. but what is ignored is that supply &demand naturally increase the price of an item regardless of the inputs. It just showsthat peoplehave no appreciation for the money in the game. they either duped it, or had it given to them.
HOLOGRINDERS grind personal harvesters. that would explain why the market shows a steep discount against the inputs due to thefact thathardcore miners use fusions and heavies.Iwould hate to imaginewhat prices would look like if there were no PRACTICE check boxin the crafting tool. hologrinding has had an enormous effect on the economy.
You are probably right about the hologrinders. But even they got uber wealthy somehow. I've heard stories about events bringing in millions of credits. It's amazing to think that there's that much money floating around this galaxy, when half of the people in it are wearing leather hide boots. ![]()
