I appreciate the macro, I didn't know it was out there. I'll definitely put it to good use.

However,

/survey is still faster.

While I agree there should be a survey tool slot in vehicle creation, it's really more of a vehicle auto-store issue than anything.
And the ideas above just don't seem to be somthing I would expect to be able to do while sitting in a landspeeder. Terminals..maybe. I can drive-up to an ATM and use it, so ok. hehe

Anybody who does any signifigant surveying knows how much of a boon surveying from a vehicle would be. At the moment, in order to survey, we have to get off the vehicle and survey which more often than not makes the vehicle disappear after a couple waves of the surveying tool. That's not to mention having to walk aclick or two trying to hunt down a decent concentration.

Usually, when your bike disappears, there is no city anywhere nearby and you have to break out a tent in order to get your vehicle back. Repeat 20 times. I'm asking everyone who has to deal with this problem to sign this petition and get everyone you know that's affected to sign. Otherwise, we get to keep a big headache from a small problem.

Just use the latest survey macro that everyone else is using.

/dismount speederbike; (or X34 if you're using a landspeeder)

/pause 1;

/survey;

/pause 1;

/mount speederbike; (or X34 if you're using a landspeeder)

This way you quickly get back on your vehicle and can zoom all over the global to your hearts content.

While it would make surveying more convenient, I can see some wisdom in why it is the way it is. For one thing, it makes surveying more of a challenge when you have to get off the bike, wondering if that Canyon Krayt Dragon is going to charge in your direction.

Also, I prefer some of the other solutions to the survey tedium, such as the use of survey droids or thumpers.

As you grow your business and network some, finding the resources you use won't be so hard, since others will share information with you. I make a habit of running a few random surveys whenever I'm out and about, and if I find something nice sharing the info with my contacts. They do the same for me.

Just one artisans humble opinion.

Whilst I agree it would be convenient I can't really see it happening. If we get surveying from vehicles then every other class will want something along the same lines - shooting from vehicles being the main contender, I expect. And I don't see that happening with the vehicles we have just now.

Sympathetic, but doubtful.

OK You already mentioned that you can macro survey which I use to survey when in a vehicle...

/dismount;/survey;/pause 1;/mount speederbike

You are wanting to search lairs from a vehicle......Have you tried? I bet not...because you can....the fly by search is one i use all the time to get eggs for a BE friend. Me not having any combat skills at all this is my safest option.

And lastly... you had mentioned that you hate it when your bike disappears.....Did you read the post from Thunderheart on the general discussion board? (I don't have the exact tread but I will find it and post)

Basically in a very near future patch (maybe the on in Feburary) You will be able to call droids, vehicles, and pets ANYWHERE that you currently need a campsite to call now. IE if the vehicle disappears just recall it. They are changing this because many of us have asked for it to happen and because we complained enough about vehicles auto-storing when we are out in the wilds. This change is possible (according to the post) because of the changes that have been implemented over the past few months with the calling and storeing of pets/droids/vehicles before, during, and after combat.

It does not make sense to beable to survey from a vehicle mostly I think because the magnetic field that keeps the vehicle hovering would interfere with the readings from the survey device.

Personally I will keep useing my survey macro but this time when I hop out to macro survey and my vehicle disappears i'm not going to curse I'll just open my datapad and call it again.

I know this change will make alot of people happy because they can free 15 points up by dropping novice scout, currently needed to drop small camps for the only reason but to call they vehicles, droids, and pets.

I agree with that plus maskscent and other such actions. I am sure it will get changed eventually. As I see it, there is little or no reason not to let this happen. It is probably only in there now as a stopgap until they can better work out the coding. "Get the product out the door first, fix the bugs later." Same ol' software developer mantra.

Actually maskscent works while on a vehicle, you just have to apply it before mounting.

Ok I disagree. Players in this game are getting too lazy.

Surveying - you need to get down close to the ground and scan it to determine what is in the area. Flying by on a vehicle your scanners would never pick it up. Besides this is the lazy man's approach.

Mask Scent - How on Earth does a creature NOT hear the loud roar of a Speeder Bike whizzing by?

All the other things - Why don't we do everything from vehicles? Why don't we eat and sleep and scout in the vehicles? Cmon, this is becoming an issue of laziness. Just likein real life, even in video games we're too lazy to get outta(or off) the vehicles and walk somewhere. Next thing you know we'll be taking X-Wings to fly from city to city when they come out.
