For generating random numbers? To decide whether or not to wager your female slave or her nine year old son on a pod race?

Really, what are real-life dice "for"? I have this odd vision of an SWG guild who gather in the Theed cantina every saturday night to play D&D.

Although I seem to remember seeing a post somewhere about a player who used a combination of craftable items and dice to allow people to play Sabaac (aka Pazaak, if you've played KOTOR) in SWG.

I'm not sure about Sabacc, but the estimable Tinkergirl provided a way to play Pazaakin her Pazaak - how to make and play thread.

Even Pex liked it.

There are a lot of in-game dice games that can be made with the different dices.

Here is one example someone came up with:

Gambling

Chilastra: K'yp Darron
Core Resources power vendor: Tusk'ens Bane (-4530, -5915)

TC-Prime: Leno, Bamih and Locin We-Eda

i've made several original games using combinations of dice and chance cubes!

and my goal in this game is to create a successful casino. full time. not just once a night, but frequent nights.

so they're for us to use... as dice. hehe.

Actually, I once wrangled the details of these out of a dev. As the story goes, it was supposed to be both a cage and a nemoidian bird. This bird would be something like a parrot with the ability to talk. It would "listen" to conversations going on in spatial around it, record them, then play them back (or some combination of sentence fragments) at random intervals.

The oddest part of the story: while the bird speaking functionality was removed even before beta, they still record conversations. So every cage you see sitting innocently in someone's house is actually an espionage device.

I belive raising the effectiveness makes the bird in the cage even more invisible. That's just a rumor I heard from some wookie...

NO WAY!!!

is there any way to access the recorded converations?

this would be WAY COOL if i implimented it in my espionage/ingelligence Roleplaying

YES WAY! (at least, as I said, that was the story told by the dev).

I doubt there's any way to access the conversation data. It'd probably all be stored server-side, and there aren't any "hooks" in the cage interface to get to it. Plus, I doubt it's a full record of everything said in the cage's presence. If I were doing it, it'd probably just be a few sentences, with random replacement of parts of the buffer when it gets full.

Brawk.....Polly wanna Crispic! Brawwk!
