Thread: tricks that keep harvestor checks to a minimal pain....

I find traveling 4-5k on my swoop(sometimes survying for a high concentration for that distance), placing harvestors in crowded/little build space areas, remembering maintenance and power, making sure i turn each on.... etc... a real pain. I do it for the money, so I can take the pain, but does anyone have some tips and tricks to ease the pain? So far, I came up with a macro to deposit maintenance and power for a week

/paymaintenance 15129'

/pause 1;

/addpower 12600;

This puts power and maintenance into a heavy(in this case mineral, not sure about other types as I dont use them much) for 1 week, usually the frequency I check my harvestors(along with watching swgcraft for despawns). I was trying to incorporate a line to open the hopper so I could easily take the resources, but I couldnt find a command for it.

Please share your little tips on keeping harvesting to a minimal annoyance..... BTW, I know I am lazy, you dont have to tell me that.

There is no command to check the hopper - we ALL wish for that.

Other commands that I've found useful for macros:

/stru (opens the status window)

/setpermission (admin, hopper) (name)

/name

I have an idea, but no one will like it as I myself barely like it. We can solve alot of harvy problems by simply putting like 100k maintenance and power in them at a time. This way you never have to worry about the harvs dying on you. Since the harvs keep their maintenance and power, it's ok, and since you usually reuse your harv (lol, i'd hate to think of a newb who didn't) you only have to do this a couple of times every 3 to 4 weeks or so. Just my two cents.

Interesting idea, the problem is you still have to go to the harvestor to do this. My main problem with your idea is that wouldnt you want to check the operate machinery screen first to make sure you have a harvestable percentage of resources. This would come up in the case of a shift, where your harvey is now off (because you sucked up all the current resource or there was a shift) and you need to choose a new resource. Now i would want to be sure there is something useful down there at an acceptable percentage before dumping creds into the harvey (power is ok cuz you can remove it).

PS you ARE lazy

Occasionally a harvester will "lose" all of it's maintenance money. Doesn't happen very often, but I tend to notput more than 20k into any harvester, just in case.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

I think that'sa bug. Have had that several times but seems to correct itselfby turning the harvie off and on, so I generally have mymacro start with the following before I add power, pay maintenance etc;

/harvesterDeactivate;

/harvesterActivate;

/stru;

And btw, you're not lazy, prefer to call it efficient. When you run a lotof 20 harvs, it's a waste of time doing all that stuff on the radial menu. Macro it and move on I say

I did discover a new tidbit from the Tuesday Tips and doing some playing around with it at home.

Try this macro for setting up a harvester:

  1. /nam Some clever name here;

  2. /setPermissions [admin|hopper] PlayerName

  3. /addp 12600;

  4. /pay 25000;

  5. /ui action radialMenu;

This last command will open the radial menu. You can then move your mouse over the second menu (2) and then Click on Operate Machine. Saves having to right click the harvester.

How is it possible to have 20 harvesters? How do you get more than 10 lots? Just a n00b wondering. Thnx.

With that /uiaction radialmenu command, I don't suppose you could add a "2" to your macro and have it select the second option... I can't check as I'm at work right now, but will have to give that a try. Most likely it will take it as a "/say 2", but you never know.

Method 1. 2 accounts.
Method 2. use the lots of another player (They must place the harvester and give you admin to it.)

There may be others but these will get you 20 lots that you control. It is the control rather than ownership that is the key. Often guilds that have a lot of memebers that don't use all their lots will pool the lots and have one 'committee' operate the lots.

Does the /setPermissions [admin|hopper] PlayerName support multiple names? I have three accounts plus 3 business partners I want all my alt's and my partners to have access to the harvies. But putting in 5 names every time I move my harvesters is getting annoying.

I am at work now and can't test but is it possible do this /setPermissions [admin|hopper] PlayerName1; PlayerName2; PlayerName3; etc etc?

That would be AWESOME!

Nice thread with good tips. I will definitely use the macros.
