Thread: Quality Items
What's with all the junk on the bazaar? I work out of Coronet City, Corbantis server and am making some good coin selling my ranged and melee powerups. However it's a little disappointing to see all the total crap listed on the bazaar! Does this just come from people who pump out junk to get XP and then hope some poor noob buys it? C'mon guys, if it's a +4% powerup, don't even bother selling it--you can make FAR better stuff with just a minimum amount of experimentation. It's taking me a long time to get up to Tailor, but at least I'm selling good quality stuff to get there. What's the rush anyway?
Maybe some of it has to do with the market--I have noticed that if I put some good powerups and some so-so powerups on the market, and price them accordingly, the so-so ones sell out first every time. I guess people sort by price. The thing is, the good ones ALWAYS sell eventually--I guess there are some scouts out there who actually do look for quality. And I do make decent money selling the good stuff.
I know this rant has been posted before in various forms, I just hope maybe some new artisan will see it and realize, you can make a living making good items instead of pumping out junk just to get to the next level. Just try it and see what happens!
Now, after browsing for a bit, I have another question. Someone posted in another thread that he can make powerups to about 99%. Currently, with the materials I've found and my XP points, I max out at about 85% for a really good item. For people who can make better, what is the reason for not doing so? Because it's very rare that I see better items than mine for sale, the only name that comes to mind is Foo Man Chew, who sells some good stuff. Is it justa waste of time for upper-level crafters to make and sell this stuff? If so, I like the niche I've found, but maybe when I get to novice tailor I'll have to focus on that? Any comments are appreciated.
I'll admit it. I had no clue what I was doing when I first began crafting. I thought the experimentation window would become available at higher levels. I didn't know how to read the quality of the items, and compare that to the schematic. I was simply getting really successful items, and selling them a little cheaper than what everyone else was selling there's for on the market.
It wasn't intentional if I put any crap out there, it was simply lack of knowledge simply because there wasn't much info out there at all.
Speaking of which, I've heard, or at least it was my understanding that whenever someone uses an item that you have crafted, I get XP for it. Is this correct? Is there anymore information on the subject?
Thanks.

Risk vs. reward on not making the better powerups, at least in my case. If you're grinding items, it makes more sense to not experiment.
Personally, I'm more preoccupied with building up resources than making items at this point. This is especially so when I spend most of my time tending to my harvesters. Delivery missions are a sure thing, bazaar sales take time.
I usually only make powerups for my own use, or to help others. When I hit Master Artisan, I started using my own vendor as well. I imagine the DE, WS, AS, and Arch players are using mainly vendors too. Any of the higher level items will be over the 3K limit anyway.
Cool, that makes sense. So the bazaar is just a niche, for sellers who haven't yet gotten their own vendor, hence the lower quality, and for buyers who are still at the stage where they don't need high-quality items yet. I will just keep plugging away then until I can max out that business tree.
Ugh! I'm one of those people that didn't realize the experimentation points came from using a public station. How the heck do you use one of those stations anyway? Each time I've gone up to the general crafting station I only see the 'examine' function on the radial menu. The general one is the one I should be using for making powerups correct?
Just when I thought I had a decent handle on this artisan career I get thrown another curve!

Thanks. I read elsewhere within this board that you need to have the public station targetted before crafting, is that correct?
Can't wait to get home and try this out. Only another 4 hours of work, yuck!

To use the public terminals, you actually just stand next to them and use your own
E.G. to use a public weapon crafter, stand near it and use your personal weapon crafter. Once an item is built, it will give you the option to experiment.
you can NOT use the generic crafter. you must use your specialty crafters.
Took me awhile to figure that out. But if you read the info on examine it explains it.
