Thread: Finding high wind concentrations

Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out how to find a concentration of wind high enough to warrant placing a wind power generator. So far, it's been slow going. I've searched all over my current planet (Corellia), but the highest percentage I can find is about 30%. Is this decent enough to place a wind generator on? I'm not necessarily looking to sell the power, I mainly need it to power my future personal harvesters (to mine the materials I need to grind though artisan).

My question is this: how do others find high concentrations of wind? SWGCraft.com doesn't seem to have any current information regarding wind. Is it just a matter of running around each planet until you find it? Or is there a trick of the trade out there that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I dont think I've seen any Wind concentrations higher then 33%.. I would recomend High PE Radioactives. Then Purchase a Med/Heavy Mineral Harvester and Harvest Radiactives with a High PE..

SWG would only tell you the name of the resoucre.. not any locations with concetration of xx.. Use it to let you know when the resource you were harvesting has shifted. and what the stats are on other resources.

If you can't find a concentration of wind energy higher than 30% on corellia, then you need to look on other planets. You can find concentrations of wind energy as high as 60%.

Go to Naboo. 50-60% is common. Wind is like any other resource in that it shifts from time to time. Wind is different in that reguardless of quality it is always worth 1 unit of energy for 1 unit of wind. It is a good starting source of power but if you are doing a lot of mining move up to radioactives as soon as you can. Most efficent is fusion plants but even personal mineral extractors can get more energy out of the ground then you have to put in them to pull it out. Class 7 is the best as it provides ~ 1.9 units of energy for every 1 unit of radioactive.

like others have said wind does not occasionally go much higher than 33%, my advice is to go ahead and invest into a fusion generator for two reasons...one it holds more and it brings in the energy much quicker than a wind power generator, and secondly since most of the radioactive material has a higher PE, u not only get one unit of energy per unit of resource, but u can get between 1.5 and 2 units of energy per.

Maybe it's server-dependent, on Chilastra-Tatooine it's not unusual to come across 50-60% concentrations. Not that there's any rhyme or reason to their locations, of course.

get a heavy mineral harvester, you can get minerals and radioactives with it

okay to summen it fast up

wind: max % 60% max ber on harvy 9.

fusion max % 97% (thats the high grade stuff jtl resources. stays longer average 15days) max ber 14.

easy math.

pe vaule are in this ration when using it as power

pe 1-500 1:1

pe 1000 1:2

pe750 1:1.75 etc

thats for any power wind-solar or radioactive

wind have caps around 550 pe. solar around 750 and radioactive have up to 1k in PE.

normal radioactive class1-7 never drops below 500

jtl radio, called high grade arent capped, so can be all from 1-1000 but it stays average of 15days. but only spawn on 1planet at the time. i always try to harvest them since i dont need to move fusion to often

hope this helps.

Wind in 50-60% concentrations used to be fairly common on Tatooine. This was nine months ago though. I don't use wind power anymorebecause it is inefficient. When it comes to power, wind blows.

i dont think u can get radioactives with a mineral harvestor, thats wat the fusion generator is for.

Yes, you can. Fusions harvest radioactives much faster than minerals, but a mineral harv can pull up radioactives.

wind is great for personals.. and just starting out cuase its cheap to get one. or the person that is say a tailor that doesnt need to mine much wind is fine . But they cost the same amount to run vs a fusion and you get tons more power for the same price..PE on wind is always low..and the rate it extracts is slower.. SOo in the same time for the same money you can end up with 200k power vs 25k power.. radio can be find in higher % sometimes double wind.. then add nearly double extract rate, and double units per for high PE you can see how raido is the way to go.

My advice.. if you plan on using just personals.. A wind mill is oky.. but find a power broker and buy 50k no hassel and nearly cheaper.

When I used wind harvs (before I got my fusion) I would place them if the conc was a min of 35%.

You can use a mineral harv to mine radioactives, but it is a waste since you have to pay maint and power for the miner, but just maint for the fusion.
